Giving

Had a great Thanksgiving with Erin and all Sister Betty ' family  yesterday.  Betty girls prepared a wonderful meal.  Greg Jones" Dad smoked a turkey and it was the star of the show.  There were so many deserts it was impossible to choose.   I choose Erin ' lemon pie with calf sobers and brought home a whole pumpkin pie plus cinnamon ring for breakfast today.

I had thought about buying a new phone at wally world and we actually went to harrison last night. It was such a madhouse we left after a few minutes.  I bought the kids food at macs and just came back home.

I am prouder of my phone today.  Really as a phone it is not the best.  It drops lots of calls and cuts me off a lot.  But when thinking changing yesterday I decided I needed to check my pws on my three email accounts. I actually use all three still. Checking pws is not easy when every device has stored pws.  This morning with the help of my phone I got all three sorted out.

Now to see if this posts without me entering my new Google pw in this phone app.  I think it will.  I knew I did not have the Google pw cause I tried to help hannah with her phone and it would not let me in.  I.knew I needed to get pws  straight before changing phones.  I don't know if I will get a new phone or not. This one is good at everything except making phone calls.  I may get hannah a new cheap phone fir her bday and Xmas. Or maybe not. We will see.

A Thanksgiving Prayer

From Dear Abby...

Oh Heavenly Father

We thank Thee for food and remember the hungry.
We thank Thee for health and remember the sick.
We thank Thee for friends and remember the friendless.
We thank Thee for freedom and remember the enslaved.
May these remembrances stir us to service.
That Thy gifts to us may be used for others.

Amen...

To blog

Brother Gilbert came today and hung the closet door in my bathroom.  With the matching cabinet he put in last week it looks just beautiful now.  All that is left to do is put the facing and trim around the opening in the closet.  He says he will be back next weekend to do that.  I am just amazed he can do all this stuff and it looks so professional when it is done.

I really need to get back to posting.  I use this space as a calender as to when things happen.  No reminders here lately.

Greg went back to work 2 weeks ago saturday. He is in Montana and maybe heading to Iowa this week.  At least that is where I think he said. He will not come in for thanksgiving, but will be home christmas.  At least that is the current plan.

I turned billy goat Earnhardt out with the herd two weeks ago.  I think all the girls are bred.  He can run with them til they start kidding at the end of january.  So far he is behaving himself and running with the herd all day.

Junior has bought our plane tickets to go see Lane.  We leave 12/21 and come back the 29th.  It is going to be an adventure.

The kids are out of school all week.  Hannah is with a friend now. Will be home tomorrow night.

It was a beautiful 65 degree day yesterday.  Today was all drizzle, high of 37.

Back to work tomorrow, but I have off Wednesday thru next monday.  Not sure what we will do other than go to harrison for thanksgiving and just not go to work for almost a week.

I have library books to read. Winter is good for reading.

Well...

I am not doing very good with this daily post thing.

Sunday morning I walked down to Gilbert's deer stand and climbed up it.  I could not get a good camera shot because of the leaves, so I climbed back down and sat against the trunk of the tree.  I am not very good at that sit and wait thing.  After about 15 minutes, I started back to the house.  I got about halfway to the gate and turned back to see this.

So

Helen and I put new flowers on the graves this week.  Junior wanted a saddle on George's stone.  They all look much better now.

I did not have enough flowers to re-do Debbie's grave, so at first I just took all the big white flowers from the others and put them in her vase.

With the vases on all the stones, it does not cost nearly as much to decorate all 3 graves.  But, Junior wanted a saddle on his Dad's stone.

So I went to the $ store at Alpena and got her new flowers.  It looks much better now.

Today, I am taking the kids down on the Buffalo and we are going for a little hike.  And maybe a picnic.  My knees still give me trouble, so we will limit it to 4 miles or less.  Hopefully, less.

Catching up

I need to get back into posting. This is my go to memory bank. The pic above is the old stone well house early yesterday morning in the fog.  I walked to the blue gate, starting before daylight.  Then, we went to Branson and got the oil changed on the truck.  I took the kids to eat a IHOP because Robert loves pancakes.

Today, we all just lazed around all day, doing nothing constructive.

A couple of weeks ago, I took the kids to Silver Dollar City for Robert's birthday.  They had a good time and I survived.  Actually, I bought a couple of Christmas presents and a painting of a goat.

The first of the month, we sold a bunch of goats.  Almost half the herd.  We sold all the little billies, 1 little nanny, 2 yearling nannies and 2 older nannies.  All together they brought almost $1500.  About half of that is pure profit over our expenses for the year, so that was not too bad.  This is the first time I  have sold so many at one time.  Usually, we would sell 2 or 3 times a year, but just once this year.

Now we have 16 nannies and Earnhardt.  But, I am giving one of the little red nannies to Linda T. so we will just have 16 total after that.

It is still pretty warm.  I turned the air on tonight.  I made the house hot baking Robert a pumpkin pie.  Tomorrow it will be October.  Time for fall weather.
