April 5

Inpatients in the black tub and our fountain.

My redone planters in front of the deck.  They are now 12 inches deep instead of 6.  Red and white inpatients.

More inpatients.

And George's new dog.  He is an Australian Shepherd and a giveaway.  Someone at work got one yesterday and I thought they looked like real shepherds.  George says he is my dog because it was my idea to get him, but I just ignored him when we got home.  George kept telling me I needed to do this and do that with him.  I said he looks fine right there under the truck.  George could not stand it and got him food and water and put him on the deck.  We gave him the original name of bear.

April 2nd

I told you so, I told you so....

Title this April Fools at the National Archives.

This is what I get at 7 pm on their 1940 census website.

Or Spinner bait.

MSNBC quotes them as saying the problem was improving and should be working shortly.  That was this afternoon.  Still no workey.

Anyway, in a few days I am sure we will be able to view the actual images, but for now only spinner bait or loading, loading, loading.

If they do get it going,  here are some ED numbers in Carroll county
COIN ED 8-7
CARROLLTON ED 8-3
LONG CREEK ED 8-16

So for Coin, on their search by ED choose Arkansas and type 8-3 in the ED box.  And, their is not actual browse function, only search by location name or ED.  That is stupid.  Browse is a list of things to click on.

I really think that part of the problem is they hired a Silicone Valley computer company that has just recently started a genealogy service called Archives.com.  I am not sure how long it has been up and running, but I know that if you want genealogy website experts you go to the big guns, Ancestry.com.  This is like they were going into the computer business and hired Packard Bell to do the work.

Ancestry.com does have some 1940 images up, and I am guessing within a week they will have them all up.  I am sure Ancestry is enjoying a good laugh tonight.

1940 census

The 1940 census is being released tomorrow by the National Archives.  They will have images online and freely available for anyone to view tomorrow, or at least that is my understanding.  Also, I think images will be available tomorrow on Ancestry and Family Search.  But, the indexing will not start until after the images become public tomorrow so for a short time you will need to know where your ancestors lived in 1940 to find them online.  I think Patsy and Richard will be in Carrollton Township.  Truman and Frances were either in Coin or Denver.  I think they lived over by Coin until Truman bought the place at Denver.  I think that was the only farm Truman and Frances ever owned.  I think they rented before that.  Melton and Gertie I think will be in Coin Township.  Grandpa and Grandma Gaddy should be in Denver.

But, I want to find George's father and his family in 1940.  I found one brother and sister in 1930, but never have located  George's father and his parents in 1930. Also, could not find Dillard Poor in 1930.

Within a month, I am sure Ancestry will have it all indexed with others to follow later.

I think it is likely the National Archives server will crash tomorrow.

April First

Spring cleaning.  We have two blue bird houses, but for the last two years the birds have not used this one.  George took it down and cleaned the old nest out of it hoping that would help get us a new renter.  We have several blue birds in the yard, so they have to be nesting somewhere close by.

This is mama of the other house watching George clean house.

And here Papa bird is feeding her a snack.

Tasty.

We have been busy.  George has redone my flower box in front of the deck.  It is now 12 inches deep instead of only 6.  Hopefully I will not have to water so often this summer.

We went to Home Depot yesterday and got some pretty red impatiens.  I did not find the white ones, but we do not have the dirt in the flower box anyway.

I also bought a lavender plant, rosemary, purple basil and an apple mint.  I think I will plant my tomatoes next week end.

Friday Patsy's goats got out and dined on fresh strawberries at the neighbors.  Today, they were out on Dan.  The crawled through the fence down in the ditch below the pond.  I think we have that fixed now.  The neighbor fixed the fence by the strawberry patch.  The little black goat seems to be doing fine.

We have had fresh asparagus twice now and the day I walked down to the grave yard, I gathered a mess of polk.  I even fried the stalks.

And, we got a new pump for our bird water fountains so they are both going now.  I also bought roundup to kill the weeds in the gravel in front of the house, but it was too windy to use it today.

Tomorrow is the day the 1940 census comes out, but I bet the servers will be too busy to be useful for a few days.  Yesterday, I got my genealogy program and my genealogy files on my new computer, soI am ready.

I can post and Patsy can't

Ha, Ha!!!!!!!!!!!!
