For Helen

I have tracked down the Peter Powell relatives in Canada.  They are of the Peter Powell line through his son Brazillia Powell.  Barzilla had a son name Thomas Monroe Powell in Macon Co. MO.  Monroe Powell had a son named Edgar Richard Powell as shown on the 1870 and 1880 federal census.  Monroe also has a death certificate in MO naming Barzilla as his father. E. R. married first Martha Blankenship in 1889 and Martha Brockman in 1894 in Macon Co.  I guess the first Martha died, but Edgar and Martha 2 must have divorced.  I found a family genealogy web file at Ancestry that says Edgar and Martha the first had a son named King James and he and Martha 2 had a daughter named Saphrona Elizabeth Powell.  In 1900 both children are with Martha Powell in ND, with no Edgar.  Later, Edgar is said to have fathered 2 sons with another woman in ND before moving to Canada around 1910/11.  Edgar married Ethel and had several children in Canada.  There is a tree here
http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=bjerkek&id=I16485
for Edgar and Ethel.

Edgar can be found on the 1911 and 1916 Canadian census records and on Edmonton, Alberta, Canada homestead records, or whatever those records were in Canada.  Homestead is probably not the word they used in Canada.  Edgar died in Alberta Canada in 1959.

I was quite interested in the King James Powell.  He is on the 1930 census in San Diego, California with a wife named Maggie.  His occupation is Deputy Sheriff.  I searched google books and found his name in a book about a disturbance with Indians.  Helen can find it here

I am sure she will want to read the entire book.  I just wish we could have found the time to talk about all this when she called.

Patsy is

Rude.  I am changing my comments back so she cannot comment.

damn photo size

In Blogger, after you upload a photo and add it to your post, click on the photo to select it and you will see an option to choose the photo size and layout.  That is if you are using a computer.  If you are using a toy to post, you may not be able to select the photo in the post.  I noticed that Helen's photos are not clickable after she posts them.  That is in the rest of our blogs, if you click on a image in our post, a window with only the image will open.

How to fix Helen's Blog photos

Get a real computer.

When photos appear pixelated, it is because they have been resized larger than the original photo.  Since Helen's blog photos are tiny, there must be a disconnect between the actual size of the photo on the toy she is using and the size blogger is uploading.  Somewhere, the photo is being resized larger than the original.

Blogger used to have a setting in dashboard to determine if you photos uploaded as small, medium or large size, but I do not see anything in the settings now that let you choose the size of your photo upload.  Surely it is still there somewhere.

Dear Photos

We have been seeing more and more deer this week.  We saw two does in the pasture on our side of the road yesterday.  Then, later saw 2 fawns with them.  We have seen one or two on our side of the road for the last 3 or 4 days.

This is the two together, but I did not get photos of the fawns.

This is a fawn down on the pondbank on Clayton's side of the road.

This is the mother on the pond bank.  We have a mother and twin babies that we have seen regularly in this pasture in the evening for a month or more, but this is a different mother and fawn.  The last two days we have  seen the twins with 3 others in this pasture.  I think it is 3 does, but George thinks one of the 3 is a fawn.  We only see them around 8 pm, so it is too dark to see details such as spots.

Today was go home early day and no work the next two days.  I have big plans, as in don't go to work for 2 days.

Crashy Boom

Robert and Hannah riding their red wagon down the hill in the dark.  She hasa  light on her head and he has a flashlight.  They were having a great time till they wrecked and Hannah cried.  I made them come in.  After 5 minutes they were ready to go again.  I would not let them go back out.  Hannah said, 'You don't like us do you?'  That did not work either.

They were taking turns spinning in the computer chair this morning until Hannah went crashy boom again.  I guess they like to come to grandma's so much because they get to do what ever they want, even Crashy Boom!

Betty's computer died and she had to get another one.  This morning, I was using the laptop and set it down for 15 minutes.  It would not come back on.  No response at all.  I took the battery out and put it back in and still no lights anywhere.  I have only backed my files up once since I got it, so was thinking I had lost all my pictures as I only put them on the laptop now.  Wally mart has a 17inch Toshiba for $400, so I thought I would have to go get one today.  As it turned out, the battery was low and it had shut off.  I know it does that, but I had it plugged in to the charger.  I guess the plug was not working.  Now it is going.  I really was not too upset about it all, but I would have gotten another laptop.  I really enjoy using it where ever I want.  And, also, usually I am the only one that uses the laptop, so it stays the same.

Later today I am going to call Patsy and take her some tomatoes.  Not now because the babies are watching a movie.  Then, I guess tonight I will back up the pictures and other things from the laptop.
