We saw the bridge

And we are coming home. Probably get there Monday afternoon. 

Country Roads, West Virginia

We are in West Virginia by the  New River Gorge park. Tomorrow we will tour a few places in the park. Sunday morning we are heading home.

It's been fun, but we are ready to get back home. 

Skyline Drive

We drove to about mile marker 36. Since it starts at the north end and we started from the south, we drove about 65 miles and it took over 3 hours. We walked down to this falls. it was about 1.5 miles round trip. 

It is much cooler up on the ridge. We have not encountered any really hot weather. It rained last night, and was very foggy when we started out at 9, but was sunny and nice by 10:30 or so. I enjoyed the drive.

On to West Virginia tomorrow.

The not so scenic route

We came up the interstate today so no scenic overlooks. We were here in Waynesboro, VA by 2. After a bit we drove about 20 miles down blue ridge parkway from here. Tomorrow Skyline drive.

Had fun on blue ridge parkway, but tomorrow it is return to the interstate to head to Waynesboro.

Coaching leasons

From an old woman. 

Sometimes a picture is just a chance encounter between strangers.  The Appalachian Trail stretches from Georgia to Maine. Yesterday, an old woman walked a .5 mile trail that intersected it here, then walked the Appalachian trail in 5 minutes. 

Now, I have had breakfast and just waiting for the kids to wake up.

Oh, and for the coaching. Instead of forgive and forget, just forget and there will be nothing to forgive...

A good hiking / driving day

We hiked up to Clingmans Some today. It is just a half mile each way but the up hill part is really steep. It took me over 45 minutes to go up and just 15 back down. I have more pics to put up latter but for now this will do.

We are in our motel in Cherokee, NC.  Off tomorrow for Asheville. All is well.

Stepping high

And low at Dollywood. Like sdc it is hilly, up and down all day. I bought this walking stick. I have 3 others but they are all too long to fit in our little car.

Kids are riding rides.  I am waiting at the train station for my ride around the park.  Enjoying our day at the park.
