Beautiful Day

It was shirt sleeve weather today. Greg's thermometer says high of 64 and 55 now. So much better than last Saturday.

I walked over to the y past Hampton's today, then back across the hill. I have not been doing my daily walk for a couple of weeks. I need to get back in the groove.

I also picked up trash along the way. I collected it in a bag and hung it on someone's fence.

Emmy & Lex

Came for Christmas lunch.  

We had steak and baked potatoes. it was great and easy.

It was warmer at 5 am today than it has been in 3 days. Thankful we had a good time over the holidays in spite of the cold. Robert got plenty of experience driving on snowy roads. I really enjoy having someone to run errands for all of us 

And, just glad I do not live in upstate New York. Buffalo has 6 feet of snow and still counting.

Walking the dogs

Yesterday, about 1 pm I walked out to Dan's gate, 1 mile round trip. Ky3 said it was 10 degrees cold, but Greg's thermometer at the back door read 15. Much better. Right now our temp out back is 9, still better than yesterday.

Today is Christmas Eve.  One more day and we will have lived thru 2 days. Nothing more, nothing less. So often it really is what you make of it.  Determine you will make it good.

 Colder than Cold.

So cold we have no temperature.  It says 72 degrees here on the counter by the heater, but the old thermometer in the window 6 feet away says 62 degrees.

Grey Dog thought we were going for a walk.  It was sooooo cold out there. She sleeps under the house next to the heater duct work so she has heat.

I was supposed to work this morning but I called Kathy and told her I was not going to try the hill today.  I am glad I do not have to get out.  It is really brutal out there.

9 degrees and falling

Cold, blowing snow.  We have about an inch so far. But it is warm and cozy on the couch under my soft blanket.

Visitors Dropped in

Helen said they had been around most of the day.

Junior went down to see what they had.  It was a deer.

They hung around until about 5 or so.

There was four, but I only got pictures of these 3. 

After this, 

They flew away.  Two are in a tree just across the fence on Dan's.  Not sure where the other 2 are.  They will be back to finish this off in the morning.

Critter Cam 12-18-22

It was really nice this afternoon.  A good change from being so cold.  I walked to Dan's and back and then went down and got the card from the game camera.  I had been 3 weeks since I had looked at the images.  I was glad to see my 2 little bucks did not get knocked off during deer season.

I have my new laptop set up so it uses a different bing image as the background on the desktop each day.  It just has the most beautiful images. When I saw this one today, it immediately put me in a better mood.  I love good photography.

A Good Book...

 

This is Sister Patsy at 16 years old. I found it on her blog.  I do not remember this picture, even on her blog.

Sister Betty has been reading books from her library.  I love to read but have not had a good book in a long time.  I even got this new laptop to download E books from our library but can't find anything to read there either.

My job is not very intense right now with lots of down time.  I have to try to find things other than actual work to fill my day. I can't take a book to work, so I look online for things to read at work.  Last week I started reading Pasty's blog at random points. Yesterday, I went to her first post, and started reading all her posts.  After two days, I am up to October of 2006, her first year.  I guess at one time I had read all her posts, but I seem to have forgotten a lot of things.  This 'book' may last me the rest of the year.   Patsy's First Blog Post - Click Here

The kids made gla gingerbread house. It turned out pretty good.

Rob is making a gingerbread train but it is not quite finished.

Helen has been sick. She went to the doctor this afternoon. Hopefully she got drugs.

This morning she was not answering her phone. I got worried and left work to come home and check on her.  She was still sleeping and did not even seem all that sick. I don't guess it helped that I made her get up from a sound sleep. Next time she better answer her phone.

Or, back to work day.  Work was good today, and in just one day, I'm pretty much caught up. That's partly because about half of what I do has to be completed each day so someone else has to do it when I'm not there.

Kids have gone to a Green Forest / Berryville game tonight. It is good Robert can drive so I don't have to haul them everywhere this year.

 For a day off. Actually, shirt sleeve weather this afternoon.  I walked over to cemetery road, but not early.  By the time I got back to Helen's, I had to take my jacket and hat off.

I went down and got the game cam card.  There was a few images of deer, and one day the coyote came by.

I am liking the new computer. Things are a bit different with Windows 11, but I am getting used to how it works.  And, today, I saw a sticky at the top edge of the screen.  I took it off and found that there is a camera after all.

It just does not take very flattering pictures.

New clothes

For my bed. I whined around to Helen until she gave me this pretty bedspread. She said she was not using it, but I am not sure if that. Anyway, the price was right and now I have it. It need to be cut because it is a queen size. Not only is she out something she paid good money for, she also has work to do so it suits my purpose. A win for one is a loss for another. 

I did not leave the place Thursday or Friday, but yesterday I tried wally world. All I bought was some work t shirts for Greg. I will mostly give money presents, but always give some little something to wrap. 

Other than that, I looked around and decided to just shop online. I do not like buying clothes online because I always want to see how the are made and feel. Most other things online is fine with me.

I really like my new computer. It is sleek and fast. Windows 11 is somewhat different, but it is mostly just a matter of learning how to use it. 

Tomorrow is my last day off and then back to work.

Thankful

For my wonderful family. I didn't think to take a picture while everyone was here, but here is the cleanup crew. Eliseo and Hannah. We used my good china here in front of them. I was afraid they might break something while washing the dishes but they did great.

Helen did most of the cooking. It was all really good. Everyone was here except for Lane. Em Face timed him so we all got to tell him happy turkey day. Em friend Lex came with her so we all got to meet him.

It was a great day, and nothing left to do but relax. 

I am blessed.

New computer

And new broom. 

I got a Lenovo 16 inch with 32 Ram and a 1 T hard drive. So far, it's all good

Computer that is. My laptop has taken a dive. I can sorta use it on the net, but not much else. I am going shopping for a new one today.

And taking kids shopping to boot. Wish me luck.

Working vacation

I am off work all this week. Yesterday and today I painted my bedroom. And, Greg put up a couple pieces of paneling that were not put back when brother redid my bathroom.  It looks much better.

Tomorrow, I am organizing the laundry room and maybe cleaning the kitchen. The laundry room is a mess. The kitchen not so much.

It feels good to have a clean room.

I worked wordle really early this morning. So early, I did not share with sisters right then.  It took me 3 tries to get the answer. At a more reasonable hour, I opened it up again to send to sisters.  Wordle did not remember me, and started all over when I pulled it up the second time. I thought I would amaze sisters by just entering the answer on the first try. The problem is, just like wordle did not remember me, I didn't remember the answer. It still took me three tries to get it even with remembering 3 of the letters.

Wordle is senile.

Full moon ellipse

Google said the perfect time to see the ellipse this morning was the exact time I was driving to work. l am sure this is the full ellipse as I took this on my way to work. Up by Barnhills.
