Forty Two

So cold.  Was 11 degrees this morning, 19 at 11 am and 24 now at noon.  We fed the birds.

Too cold to play outside.

New glasses.  We are so cute.

A year ago, and two years ago at this time we had almost a foot of snow, so cold is not so bad.  They say we may get ice tomorrow afternoon.  I hope not, but if we do, I am staying home from work.

Today is Donnie's birthday.

Day Forty in Pictures...

Fourty

Today is cloudy and cool.  The goats are enjoying being free to roam.  They got out the first day, but George fixed the fence and they have stayed in since then.  They were up near the barn this afternoon when I came in.  They have been going back to the barn each night and sleeping either under the shed or in the lot.  I enjoy watching them.  The little fat white one with the dark face is the biggest pet.  She always comes running when she sees us out in the yard. Orphan Annie has not had her head back in the fence since we let them out.  Next month, we should get babies from three of them.

We still see deer almost every day.  I took some pictures of them but they were so far off in the field you could barely tell it was deer.

Thirty Nine, The Lost Day

Yesterday there was no post because it was a wash.  At work we were talking about locking doors, as in I have a new front door with a deadbolt lock but I do not know where the keys are.  It was a joke, except as I was talking I realized I really did not know where I put the keys to our new door.  I had a vague memory of saying something to George about I will put them here, but could not remember where 'here' was.

When I got home, I asked George if he knew where the new door keys were.  He did not.  So, I started looking.  I thought I had probably put them in my new junk drawer in our new cabinet, but looked and did not see them.  There were 4 other likely places that I thought I might have put them.  But, no keys, no luck.

I looked for a couple of hours, and in the course of looking in the Bible box where I sometimes put things for safe keeping, I saw our lock box key.  That made me think about the lock box key that I kept on my key ring with my truck keys until last fall when I loaned my truck to the son.  I now have my truck back but I knew the lock box key was not on my key ring.  I looked anyway and sure enough it was not there.  Now, a lost key for a door that we do not ever lock anyway is not such a big deal to me, but I really wanted to find the lock box key.  Look, look, look everywhere I could think of.  No door keys, and only the one lock box key in the Bible box.

After about 3 hours of searching, George finally got interested enough to help search.  After looking everywhere two or three times,  we found many many door and car keys that do not fit any doors or cars that we now have, but still no new door or lock box keys.  Finally, I decided to empty out the junk drawer because I really thought that is where I should have put them.  And, there they were way in the back under all the junk.

Still not lock box key, so finally I went on to bed.  And, as I got to thinking, I realized that the key I saw in the Bible box was my lock box key. The extra lock box key is also in there still in the red envelope we got it in because George has never used it and it is his key.  The one I saw was my key that was right where I put it when I took it off the truck key ring when I loaned the truck out.

I am not sure what the moral of this story is.  Both keys were right where I thought they should be when I went searching for them, but, I looked and did not see.  I guess the moral is I was blind but now I see.

The door is still not locked, but there is a door key and a lock box key on my key ring.  All of you remember that and the next time I go searching for these keys I will ask you where I put them.

Thirty Seven

After George got Orphan Annie out of the fence for the third time in 48 hours, he decided it was time they roamed free.  They think they have died and gone to goat heaven.
