Saturday

NO WORK!! I walked up to the Douglas road today. This is a view from the old Carl Bishop house just at the first crest on the road before you turn off on our road. They resurfaced the road last week, and Friday, the county painted strips on it. It looks odd with yellow strips.

This is the big tree that was down on the fence. When George cut the big part of the trunk off, laying on the ground here, the tree stood back up in its hole. I think it may grow back. What do you think?

Kelly is going to bring his horses down here. They got the corner post fixed today and the gate back up, so everything is ready. If things get really bad, I guess we can eat horse meat.

The Lucky One

I seriously predict that one day whichever candidate loses this election no matter if it is Obama or McCain, that man will one day, before the next four years is over, look back and thank his lucky stars he lost.

I think what our government is doing now with our money is protecting the fat cats from what is inevitable, the failure of our entire economy. Even with all this money, there will be more and more crisis until we (the people) have nothing left in our government coffers to give. When the government has given away all our money and has no more bailout money the whole thing will crash. Our ship will sink because we used all our buckets to bail out the banks and the bankers leaving nothing for our ship of state. But, many monied people that would loose so much if the crash came this week will have taken the people's money and ran, probably to another country.

The luckiest man in the world is the man that loses the next presidential election in the US of A.

a short walk

I walked down to see what George was doing with the tree. All the branches are off and cut up. Now the hard part, the big trunk.

This is the 'road' down to where the tree is. That light pole is in my yard. The grass tips are purple now.

Then I walked out to Dan's. That is about 30 minutes of walking.

Something for Patsy to read

Dr. Thomas Walker's Journal here
http://www.tngenweb.org/tnland/squabble/walker.html

Ambrose Powell accompanied Walker on his jurney and discovered Powell Valley which was named after him. Maybe our Powell DNA will match up with Ambrose Powell.

Miles

Acording to the white truck, it is 2.3 miles to Callen's branch and 3.5 miles to Coin. So, I walked 7 miles today. I wonder how long it took Patsy and Richard to walk this when they went to school there. I know they went down to Morris' and crossed the creek there. Did they then cut across the fields or walk the road to the school house? I would hate to walk that every winter day, twice a day.

A walk to Church

This morning we were fogged in. This is my yard at 7:30 am when I started my walk.

I walked all the way to the Coin church house. This is the slab at Coin, taken from the other side looking back across the slab. See the huge tree that Ike washed up on the slab?

This is the view down the creek from the Coin slab, looking towards home.

This is Mary Anderson's house. It does not look like anyone lives here now, now car in the drive, but it is still very well kept and a very pretty house. I don't know if Mary still owns it or not. She has lived in town for 20 years or so.

These are JR's horses. I don't know how far I walked. I am going to take the truck and measure it and also see how far it is to Callen's branch were I went yesterday. Just because I want to know. They say to walk at least 30 minutes a day for your health. Yesterday I walked 1 hr and 50 min. I know I said 3 hours but that was wrong and I think it is 4.5 miles to Callens Branch. Today I walked from 7:30 til 10:15. That is 2 hrs and 45 minutes, so if I just walk 30 minutes or so each day this week, I will be doing good.

I am going to go see how far I walked today.
