Saturday

and I did not walk today.  I went shopping in the local thrift stores for clothing for my adopted children in the Church play.  There are, I think, 19 children in the play. At least 15 are girls and most of them are picked up by the Church bus.  We never see their parents.  The girls need dresses for the play, no jeans or slacks because it is supposed to be 1930.  Most of the girls do not have a dress they can wear.  This made me feel bad.  Mrs. Preacher has a huge stash of thrift store dresses for them to choose from, but they are old women looking dresses.  I told my three girls I would look for dresses for them.  I now have dresses for my three, one of Helen's and a couple of other big girl dresses.  And I am taking some of Hannah's dresses for the little girls.  Helen says it is all silly, but still it made me feel bad.  I know girls don't wear dresses much anymore, but not to have a dress at all? And, I guess even worse, not to have someone at home that would make sure you had a dress if you needed on for some reason.

And, if you liked the barbed wire cross I made and thought I might make  you one, think again.  I have made three.  It really does not take that long to make one, maybe 30 to 45 minutes, but it was a lot harder than I thought it would be.  I may try some with just wire, no beads, or maybe not.

Costumes for the play

Me and Hannah in our 1930's costumes.  I made the hat.  Can you tell?  I was going to try to find some fake pearls to wear with this dress, but kept forgetting to look.  The neckless is Christmas tree trim strands.  What she needs is some little white gloves, and I need long white gloves up to the elbow.  I doubt I could find those anywhere.  Robert is just going to wear jean and a regular shirt.  Overalls would be appropriate but I could not find any and he does not want to wear overalls anyway.

Helen still does not have a costume.  She will probably wear her night gown.

Update, Betty says I look like Grandma Powell.  We had to pick our own fake names for the play.  My name is Gertie.  Hannah piked Emily.  Guess Helen's name.

Winnie wins the prize even if she does not known the name. Hello Irene...

Today

I walked down to the cemetery in Dan's pasture, just for a change.

I saw Lois Morris' barn through the trees.

The cemetery looked nice.  No brush or briers.

I saw a noisy woodpecker in a tree.

And he saw me.

One of Dan's forgotten farm implements.

Sir Arthur.

Snow White and Baby Grey.

Helen's horse wanting feed.

My craft project.  There was a barbed wire cross hanging in Patsy's room in Springdale.  I wanted to try to make one. What do you think?

Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

Yesterday Hannah wanted to put up the tree, but I was not wanting to.  Finally,  I just told her that she and Robert could put it up.  They did it all themselves and it really looks pretty good.  Of course, this morning, she had moved it all around.  And tonight they had the trains strung out all across the living room playing trains.

My new computer is a 2 in 1 computer that you can fold up into just a tablet.  I wanted a tablet to read books on but still wanted a real computer for my files and pictures.  In reality, for the same money I could have gotten a better computer, and for less money I could have gotten a better tablet.  Still, this suits me.

As for windows 8, you could say about the same thing.  It is not nearly as good a touch screen OS as Apple's and for ordinary computing without the touchscreen, it is not nearly as good as windows 7.  I do like the touch screen for web stuff and a tablet is much better for playing games than a real computer.  I just do not play  games at all, but the kids do.  I have already downloaded them a few games and they really enjoy the larger screen, compared to the ipad mini.

The one problem I have found so far that seems stupid, is that it refuses to download pictures from my camera when the computer is not connected to the internet.  That just seems stupid.  And, when I am trying to figure out things about a computer, I just search the web for an answer.  For some reason, either because windows 8 is so unpopular, so new, or that there are just too many versions of windows now, when I search I get few answers that actually pertain to 8.1.  I guess now I will search and see if I can find out why I have to be connected to the net to get pictures off my sd card.
