Snow, already gone

It snowed this morning, about 1 inch accumulated.  It stopped around 12 or so and is all gone now.

Still, looks really gloomy out.

Present from Sister Betty

Toilet paper and paper towels cause I hate buying toilet paper and paper towels.

January 4, 2924

It was 28 degrees at 7 this morning. I walked to the blue gate, 3 miles round trip.

Went to the dtore as we needed milk. Spending the rest of the day by the fire.

Going to order pizza for supper, but I am making a cake, butter pecan with brown sugar frosting. My favorite.

Walk to the Creek

I had today off work, so around 10 or so I walked down thru the neighbor's field to the creek.

This is just at the edge of the bottom.

The creek.

I saw an eagle fly over and tried to take a picture.  You cannot see any birds in this picture, but on the right side about in the middle are two little black specs.  I only say one eagle, but there are two in this image even if you cannot see them here.

See the specs on this cutout.

Helen's house is in the middle of this image way in the background.

The old sycamore down by the cemetery.

This after noon turned off nice, but it was really cold last night.

A new day in a new year, 2024

I started 2024 with a long morning walk, over by JR Snow's place.  By the time I got home, I had my 10,000 steps. It was just below freezing when I started out, but I had on many layers of cold weather gear.  I am going to try to get my 10,000 steps on the week end in this way this year.  On work days, I try to get 10,000 steps before the work day is over and just walk a mile or so when I get home.

I did not see any wildlife on my walk except for a very few small birds.  But, after my walk, I went to Harrison for groceries.  I took the long way around, going by Grandpa's house.

It has a new green roof.  I think it is a metal roof, but could not tell for sure from this distance.

This is an eagle in a tree just past Grandpa's place, by the old Eb Smith Barn.

This is the barn.  The eagle is just a dot in the tree at the left edge of the image.  The eagle is on the horizonial branch on the right side of the tree.

I took this Christmas day.  He is sitting in a tree behind Norris' old chicken house at the top of Meek Hill.

Another view. The wind is ruffling his feathers here.  We have seeen this one flying across the road above us several times.  I saw him flying a couple of times on my walk this morning, once at the top of Meek Hill.

Below are several images I took in the afternoon a week or so before Christmas.  The are in the trees along Callen's Branch by the blue gate just before Hampton's old place.

This is the little Hawk that sits in the old dead tree by the pond here by my house.

Happy 2024.

2023, The End

In the month of December, I averaged walking 13,178 steps per day.  Sunday, Dec. 8, was the only day I did not make 10,000 steps. I am not sure what I did that day.  Maybe it was the week I went to see Betty. I don't really remember.

For the year, I average 10,609 steps per day.  These are my total steps, not just a single walk. February, March and October I averaged less than 10,000 steps per day.  I am guessing the weather was not good in February and March.  Not sure what happened in October.  Next year, I am going to try for 10,000 steps every day.

And, in other news, it is December 31st and Sister Betty was mowing grass today.  I think she may have lost a few marbles.
