A new day in a new year, 2024

I started 2024 with a long morning walk, over by JR Snow's place.  By the time I got home, I had my 10,000 steps. It was just below freezing when I started out, but I had on many layers of cold weather gear.  I am going to try to get my 10,000 steps on the week end in this way this year.  On work days, I try to get 10,000 steps before the work day is over and just walk a mile or so when I get home.

I did not see any wildlife on my walk except for a very few small birds.  But, after my walk, I went to Harrison for groceries.  I took the long way around, going by Grandpa's house.

It has a new green roof.  I think it is a metal roof, but could not tell for sure from this distance.

This is an eagle in a tree just past Grandpa's place, by the old Eb Smith Barn.

This is the barn.  The eagle is just a dot in the tree at the left edge of the image.  The eagle is on the horizonial branch on the right side of the tree.

I took this Christmas day.  He is sitting in a tree behind Norris' old chicken house at the top of Meek Hill.

Another view. The wind is ruffling his feathers here.  We have seeen this one flying across the road above us several times.  I saw him flying a couple of times on my walk this morning, once at the top of Meek Hill.

Below are several images I took in the afternoon a week or so before Christmas.  The are in the trees along Callen's Branch by the blue gate just before Hampton's old place.

This is the little Hawk that sits in the old dead tree by the pond here by my house.

Happy 2024.
