Foggy Bottom

along Dry Creek this am. Even though I did not have to go to work today, I still woke up at 4 am. We were all fogged in. George's deer dog barked about 6 am and I looked out to see 3 deer running down by my fruit trees just a hundred yards or so from the house. We didn't see many deer during the hot weather, but George sees 2 or 3 most mornings now. I am hoping to see herds walking up the lane again this winter.

I went to Harrison today and stopped by the library to use their restroom. They were having a book sale. I bought a new bird identification book. I miss placed the one I had and cannot find it anywhere. This one was $5. I got 2 older cook books for $1 each and 2 paper backs for 10 cents each.

Yesterday, someone at work was talking about what they were going to do this week end. I said that today I was going to do only what I damn well wanted to do. So far, I have stuck to my guns on that.

Tomorrow we are going to Betty's to get Hannah's bed. Right now they live in a small apartment, but her mother said today that they will move to a house on Nov. 1. I am thinking I may buy Hannah new bedding and new curtains for her birthday. December 2nd she will be 4 years old. It does not seem possible. This morning it was in the 40's so the two babies got to wear the new jackets I got them to school. Hannah loves her's because it is really, really soft.

Helen says she does not post many pictures so her page will load quickly for us dialup people. I am with Patsy, I like pictures. I think Helen really doesn't like to post pictures because she cannot take good pictures. But then she cannot write very well either and she still writes on the blog.

George brush hogged the garden yesterday and today he tilled it. I guess we are ready for winter. The tree trimmers for Carroll Electric are going around here with one of those brush shredding machines and George is getting them to dump the shreddings here. They will make good mulch next spring.

All over except the passing

Around of the blame. Or at least I guess it is. I already have over 40 hours this week so I am not going in tomorrow. Today at 4 or so the Big A left the building but we don't know our score yet. She will probably come back in the morning and do the scoring. I did not ask.

I do not think we lost any points on anything that I take care of, but I am sure we failed. It is very bad to fail a customer audit. There will be much pointing of fingers tomorrow, but nothing will change. When we failed last year, I made changes on all the things that I take care of that we lost points on. Seems some took the 'pretend we don't see it and maybe no one else will see it either.' She came, she saw, now we are sorry. At least she thinks we are sorry. It is not a good thing for a customer to think you are sorry.

Once today, I took some papers the Big A was wanting to see to a management person that I work closely with. He sits in brothers old chair. He had a tall stack of papers in his hand. Brother trained him well. He looked at my papers, then looked at his papers and said, 'I am not taking your papers in there. She will send me to find more of these other papers I have been hunting for all morning.'

Next week will be fun. But for now, I am going to enjoy my 3 days off.

Bad news, good news

Bad News, Audit not going so well.

Good News, Things going so badly and taking so long, Auditor not likely to even glance at anything I do.

Window Man was here again

Well, I guess you are not going to get any pictures today. I was trying to upload pictures of the new window and the power went off. Now, I get an error message on uploading pictures. Clayton will be glad. He does not like the pictures anyway.

George got the other window put in my bedroom and it looks really good. Now, we just need to buy all new windows for all the other windows. We may wait till spring. Winter is coming and that is not a good time to have holes where the windows go.

Big audit starts tomorrow. Maybe I won't have to work any more after this week. As Uncle Truman says, I may just draw rocking chair money if things don't go to suit the Big audit lady. I am not going to worry about it, which is a real change for me. I decided about 2 years ago to lower my expectations concerning my job, and it has worked for me. Sometimes it does not work as well for the Big people I work with. Stay tuned.

Having fun

Last week end, we took the kids to the zoo in Springfield. They saw many amazing things.
Here Robert is peeking through the fence at something he is really interested in.

He got Grandpa to look and even tried to get Grandpa to help him climb over the fence.

This is what he wanted to get closer to by climbing over the fence. Trailers for big trucks.

Most of the time was spent running from one place to another. In the heat, the old folks got tried early. After about an hour and half, we left for McDonalds where the kids ran and the old folks sat.
