More new stuff

I got a new dinning room table today.  It is oak and very pretty.  The pedestal under it is made of metal, not plastic.  I got only the table.  The chairs were ones I already had.  I tried the bench Erin gave me and it was just the right height for the table.  When we get more of the kitchen done so I can move out the clutter, I will put the bench back behind the table, but for now there is too much junk back there.  On one side is a window to put in the back bedroom and the white thing leaning against the window is the back panels for the kitchen bar/island.

George put the window in the living room yesterday.  He is finishing up the wall tonight.  He may put the window in the back bedroom tomorrow.  We have two more to put in the living / dinning area and that one in the back bedroom.  He needs to get them done before cold weather.

I stopped by the neighbors this morning on my way to town to ask if the old folks needed anything from town.  When you get as old as he is, it is hard to get out and drive to town.  I am a good neighbor.

What we have been up 2

I ordered a new computer hutch to put George's computer in.  It came yesterday and he got it put together.  It had doors so I can close it up and hide the mess.  I really like it because it looks nice.  George did a good job of putting it together.  We quit last night with it only partly completed.  The next step was putting on the doors.  When I got home from work today he had one door on and  was working on the other one.  I asked  if he had been working on it all day and he said he had.  He likes it because the pull out shelf for the keyboard works right and is sturdy.  The one on the old desk sometimes decided to fall off in the floor.

Our internet came back on around noon yesterday.  It went off again today for awhile but it working again.  I am  glad it came back on.  I was almost through with  my last ebook.  I have another one downloaded now, Chinaberry  Sidewalks by Rodney Crowell.  I am reading The Warmth of Other Suns but I find myself skipping a lot of it.  The Author, that fills many pages with meaningless ramblings about her thoughts on life.  I like the parts that tell the peoples stories, but a little of high ideas on life's true meaning goes a long way.  I am really enjoying being able to find books to read whenever I want, but I think if we are ever going to get the kitchen done I am going to have to limit my weekend reading time.  I just never thought I would like reading books on the computer, but it turns out it is akin to getting news through the computer instead of the TV.  The news you want instead of whatever is on.  A book I like when I want it without leaving my living room.

Net LossI I

We lost our internet yesterday afternoon and have been mostly in the dark since then.  George thought maybe the little internet device had gone bad.  I was thinking it was a signal problem, but today when I took the babies back to ES, I took the computer with me and it would not work at all all the way over and back.  So, we took it to Harrison.  When we passed Alpena we got service.  The Verizon man said they lost a tower over our way.  It will be back in service Tuesday.  We are coming up on Alpena on our way back, so see you Tuesday.
