Glorious Day

Sometimes I think.  Then, sometimes I do not.

But, sometimes when I do, I think I should be grateful for what is and not worry about what might be.  Because, in realty, what might be is not and what is, certainly is.

Patsy gave Robert 2 nice Tonka dump trucks that Sammy got somewhere.  Robert has lots and lots of trucks, but no one was ever more pleased and excited than he was to get two more great dirt hauling trucks.

He was so pleased he generously offered one to Hannah, so they could have a demolition derby race.

He lined them up and got her started.  Oh, this was going to be the greatest fun.

But, sister was more interested in seeing the dump bed work than racing.

She soon left him to race his truck alone, while she raced down the hill.  Each to his own fun.

She found Benjamin's shovel and started digging for worms.  She was totally excited with each new wiggling find.

See, MeMaw, WORMS!

Robert explaining the wonders of his truck.

A great mud racer.

Isn't this just the greatest fun!

I brought them in and gave them a bath at supper time, but as soon as they got up from the table they were out in the mud again.

And all I do is whine because it is raining again.

????????????

These birds were circling round and round my yard tonight, high above the trees catching insects on the fly.  There were only 4 of them.  They are some kind of swallow.  I don't think they were Martins as there are no Martins in the house we put up.  I thought they might be barn swallows, but the Cornell bird site says barn swallows have a forked tale and I don't think these did.  Maybe they were visiting Martins.

Flowers

A better pic of the kettle, with a little sunshine.

Patsy's pink rose.  I have three of these and one other from her place that has yet to bloom.  I think it may be a different variety  as it is growing much taller. It may just be that it is planted in full sun and the other three get lots shade.  I will know soon if it is the same as it is getting ready to bloom.

The pot again.

Joseph's Coat rose.

Whoopie!!!!!

We are not working tomorrow and day shift is not working Wednesday.  I guess I should have asked why, but I did not.  It has to have something to do with the boil order, but they lifted that yesterday.  Some of the girls said they would probably change their minds and reschedule, but I said if I made it to 2pm today, which I did, I was not coming back until Thursday.  If they call, I will not be in.

The photo is the kettle Helen fished out of the cave.  The picture did not turn out very well, but the kettle looks very nice with purple petunias, white vinca, red begonias, and red cockscomb.  It will look better when the plants in the back get bigger.

Helen's problem

is that she is easily led.  I do not follow or lead, just do my own thing.  I am not going to swing on a grape vine.  As Benjamin says, 'I am not Tarzan.'

Helen

LIES!!!!!!!!
She says this plant has only 3 blooms on it and here I can count 5.

Today

I went for a walk.  Out the road past Clayton's.

Here, almost to the corner, you can see where the electric crew has cleared the right of way to the top of the hill.  I have wanted to try walking up the hill here, but have always just went on down the road.

Today, I crossed the fence and started up the hill.
I think this rock was turned up on its side by a logging crew.  Surely, it would not be turned up on its side against this small tree otherwise.

Instead of going on to the top of the hill along the line, I turned straight across the hill where the going looked partially clear.  Near the top of the hill, I came across this old rock fence running north and south across the hill.  I have been here before, but I thought it ran along the top of the hill, not across the top as it does.

The rock fence ends here where it intersects with an old road that runs east to west along the top of the ridge of the hill.  Even though it surely has not been used in years or maybe even decades it is still clearly a road.

I wondered around up there until I came to the fence between David Combs and Dan across the top of the hill then went on down the road till I sort of knew where I was.  I crossed back onto our land not knowing exactly where I was on the hill.  I eventually saw a big blue thing off through the trees and knew it was Clayton's blue carport.  Then I saw this and knew I was more or less directly above the 'new' barn.

I came out right here.  When I got home, George was gone again.  He has been at Kelly's digging a ditch with his ditch which.  He brought it home tonight saying he was almost finished.

It was really cool today and looks like it will be the same for the next few days.  Highs around 60, lows in the low 40's.  Back to the grind tomorrow.
