First time this spring

I saw the deer crossing  over past Dan's.  I used to see them here often, but nit so much in the last 6 months or so.  It looks like several yearlings, and maybe one smaller one born this year.

Purloined Flags

Mama called these flowers flags, as did her mother. I dug them up from the neighbor's yard one dark and stormy night many years ago. I just love them.

Jumping Froglegs

Eliseo caught some frogs from the pond and wanted me to cook them.  He liked them. Western Sizzlin at Harrison serves froglegs on Friday, so I am taking them all to eat there Friday night.

Dog Days?

Grey dig lives to rest on the lawnmower seat when it is parked under the carport. When it is parked down at the shed, not so much. I guess that is too far from the action.

Must be summer

It is 80 degrees here on eclipse day. Hannah and Elizeo are paddling on the pond. I hope they don't fall in. It is really muddy.

Sooooo...

Sister Helen asked me to make posters fir her friends of the library raffle. I made this one and printed her 2 copies. Reading it over, I saw I had put in my own phone number instead of the business number. I checked my notes for the correct number, only to find I had written in my on number there also. Mr. Google had the correct number.

Bunches of babies

Saw a dozen or so babies this morning. Many getting breakfast.

I walked to the blue gate and back around 20. It was cool, but I was comfortable in my hoodie.

Going to walmart to pick up a few things, the just enjoy doing nothing.

Beautiful day

I only had to work 4 hours today, then came home and took a nap. Now gave walked my walk. 

Helen checked out Reba McEntire book and I am going to try to read it. I am not much on celebrity books, but we will see.

Spring babies

The neighbors sheep are having babies. Most of the babies are to far away to get a good picture, but I can here them bleating for their moms. Today this one was diwn closer to the road. 

Another beautiful day. Walked 3 miles this morning and 1 mile now. So far I have hit my 10,000 steps every day this year.

Another beautiful day

Helen hauled me to Berryville to get my meds. It was nice to just ride for a change.  And, I got to make lots of jokes at her expense.

Kids have all been gone all day so all was quiet here.

It is Spring

Pretty flowers and warm sunshine. I love it.

Tomorrow the kids are going to Silver Dollar City and Greg is going to his new job.

No one here but me all day. I love it.

Mountains

 

Son is in Colorado with his two kids.  So glad Lane is back on this side of the Big Water. I think a blizzard is coming to Colorado, but they will probably think that is fun.

We have had some cooler days this week, but the week end is supposed to be in the 70's.  I am ready. We have yellow flowers blooming all over the place, and the trees are budding out.  Spring if February would be nice.

So, this happened

It snowed yesterday. Started around 5 and kept going to 1pm.  But, it melted almost as fast as it fell. By 2, there was some on the grass, but pavement and dirt roads were clear. Supposed to be almost 60 today. I am hoping this is the last of winter falling on our heads. But then, one year it snowed on Patsy's birthday, May 3rd.

Visiting

I am at Sister Betty's for a couple of days. The weather is great, above 60 and mostly sunny. 

We are digging up dead people. But, she has caught that thing that goes around. If you don't know the name of an ancestor, just make one up.  

Happy whatever

I got a new washer today. The spin cycle quit working on the one I had. Greg and Robert hooked it up and it is working great. I am pleased with my choice.

I bought the one I had 6 years ago in 2017. Then I wanted a top loader, and most washers I saw at that time were front loaders. I also wanted a dasher, and most washers then had no dasher. When shopping this time, most washers were top loaders with a dasher. 

Sunny day

Still cool, but nice. I made my regular walks today, first time in almost 2 weeks. I walked to the cemetery at noon, and to Dan's around 3. I wore my big cold weather coat and was very comfortable. I think this week is supposed to be warmer with less rain. I am ready.

Counting my nots

It's not cold. It's not icy. I do not have to go to work today. All blessings. It's going to rain all day. Do you have nots to count?

Foggy and damp

Beats icy and cold. It has been overcast from Tuesday on this week. It's rained some each day, with only a little sunshine but the temperature had stayed above freezing since the ice Monday. One more workday this week. So far so good.

Looking to Monday at noon

By about noon today we should be above freezing. Tomorrow morning starts off not so good, but by noon all is sunshine and happy days for the week. Then, we can say we survived the deep freeze of '24. I will be glad to put the behind me.

Ark/Mex casserole and butter pecan cake with butterscotch frosting. With real pecans, thanks to Sister Betty. 

Much warmer today

It topped out at 40 here at the house today. Still going to be really cold at night until Monday.

Our road is mostly clear, and the highways are clear.

The house feels really comfortable tonight for the first time since last week.  I am ready for July.

Another cold one

I think last night was the coldest we've had, below zero. Today wsd cold again, not even breaking 20 degrees, but we had pretty sunshine all day.

I went on to work in Robert's truck. Did not have a bit of trouble. Work was fine, and I'm all caught up now. No school again tomorrow, so I roll drive the truck again.

Still Cold

 But it has stopped snowing. My thermometer says 18, Helen's says 16.

I did not go to work today. I walked to the neighbor's and back down to Terry's red gate this morning.  Then, to Dan's and back down to the red gate again this afternoon.

Greg has been out twice today, and other sonn went out also.  No school tomorrow, so I will probably take Robert's truck and go to work tomorrow, but if I do I am not leaving till daylight.  The big truck will not have any trouble. It has 4 wheel dirve and new tires.

Cold weather gear

This is my cold weather coat son gave me several winters ago.  It is a Dewalt coat. It came with battery heaters, but I never used them and gave them back to him. It is wind proof, water proof, and very warm but not heavy. 

It has snowed over 2 inches and still going.  It is really light snow now, but it came down pretty good for awhile.

Killing time

Sometimes I take a quiz on current events when I have nothing better to do. Today, there is not much good to do at my house. Got down to nothing at here early.

So, I took this npr quiz on global health news in 2023. I did pretty good, considering I was just guessing on most of the questions.

Cold today, colder tomorrow

Actually this afternoon was not terrible. It got diwn to 17 on my back porch and 14 at the neighbor's.

But, my washer died thus morning.  The spin cycle is gone. Luckily, the neighbor's back door was unlocked so I used their washer and dryer also. Cheaper that way.

And it us still 23 degrees. Will be really cold by morning.

Cold, blowing snow

But, we're snug in our warm home for the night. I am probably snug at home til Monday. This is stay inside weather.

This morning at work it quit snowing around 9, so I went out and warmed up my car to melt all the snow off.  There was only a little on the car, but it would have  been ice by the time I got off work.

This was at 3:30.  It has quite snowing now and the temperature is still 23 degrees.

Snow, already gone

It snowed this morning, about 1 inch accumulated.  It stopped around 12 or so and is all gone now.
