Saturday,,,

This morning as I started my walk about 8:30, I saw 5 deer down by the salt block. They went up over the fence into the road, then down the fence line to way over the other side o the field towards Dan's. Then they went up to Helen's yard, jumped the fence and went up on the hill.

I walked the 2 mile trek to cemetery road and back. Then I took my old laptop to Best Buy in Branson. They are going to try to fix it.  If they can't get it going, they are going to get my files and put them on a flash drive.  I actually want the pictures more than the computer working.

It was a nice day today, but we are supposed to get snow and ice Sunday and maybe Tuesday.  Must be Febuary coming up.

Helen seys

 Electric line is fixed.

This is my phone pic of the line that was down.  You can't see if very clearly because it is grey just like everything else in the pic.  Below I have drawn a highlight by the down line.  The other line is the guy-wire for the pole.

And here is the other end and highlighted below.  Again there is a guy-wire.

Several people including one of my living closest relativies said 'I think it is a phone line.'  It is not a phone line.  There are 2 wires on every electric pole from my house all the way to Timbucktoo. Look out your window.  There is one line running from the pole closest to your house to somewhere on or near your house.  All the other electric poles will have two lines.   I do not understand how anyone would not know this.

One thing I know a lot of people do not know is there are no telephone lines in rural Carroll County.  They were replaced by underground lines about 20 years ago.  Over time, all the telephone lines were removed as they are definately a safety hazard.  When there was a telephone line, it did not do double duty as a telephone/electric line.  It was a third line decated to phone only.

What is the difference between a power line and a phone line?

On poles with both types of lines, electric wires are typically higher off the ground. They are attached to the pole with insulators that prevent electricity from burning the pole. Cable and phone lines are lower on the pole and usually attach directly without insulators.

Snow

Lots of snow. Well, 6 inches at our place.

No school today or tomorrow.  Did not make it past Helen's this morning because of trees in road. Should be fine tomorrow.

It really was fairly nice today. Snow has melted some. It was really a wet snow.

We have a line on the ground between us and Helen's.  We called it in but the are really busy.  So far the lights have stayed on all day.  Hope our luck continues.

Dreary Sunday..

But, I walked early.  It was only in the upper 30's, but I bundled up and enjoyed the walk.  I went to cemetery road and back, 2 miles round trip.  Emmy's friend Lex, can do a mile in less than 4 minutes.  It only took me 26 minutes.

I did see some deer this morning.

This is over in Newberry's field just before you get to the cemetery. There was a group of deer in the trees but you can't see them here.  I would not have noticed them except for the dogs barking.  The dogs usually or smell deer along here, but a lot of the time they are already hidden in the trees.  They cross over and then go up on then go up on the rock quarry.

When I went to chruch, these two were at the edge of Helen's yard.

And these two just past her yard.

And two eagles in Snow's Eagle Tree.

Ths is the frist time I have seen them in the Eagle Tree this year.

They are saying we may get snow tonight ad tomorrow.  I hope not.
