Aprill 27

Helen says the Dr said she had pneumonia.  That is why she has not been feeling well.

Tonight, weatherman is backtracking on his promise of rain.  Probably it will all be north of Springfield. My garden really needs rain.  I planted 3 rows of corn Thursday afternoon.  It will not grow without rain.  The weeds are still going strong though.

No baby goats.

Tomorrow, the annual garden show is on the square at Berryville.  I am going to go.  They always have lots of vendors including many ordinary locals that just dig up startings and take them for sale.  That is where I got my lambs ear and some of my rose of sharons.  Just about every year I buy something.  I don't remember if I went last year or not.

April 25

Summer seems to be here.  I am going to plant corn today or tomorrow.  I guess I need to buy potatoes and replant.  I have one row that I planted from potatoes left from last year that is doing fine, but the row that I planted from seed potatoes bought from Kirk Powell were not worth planting.  I have about 4 plants in the entire row.  Should have know better than to buy from those people.

Patsy called yesterday to check on me.  Clayton called yesterday to check on Helen.  No one has checked on Betty.

Still no baby goats.

April 24

Patsy called thinking George had done me in since I hadn't posted for 2 days.

I was just tired after the weekend last night so did not get out the computer.

Still no baby goats, but the little black goat is looking much better.  I think hand feeding her has really made the difference.  But, George had to go buy more corn today. She would not eat the goat pellets Evan's sold me.  I was mixing it with corn but ran completely out of corn.  The others would eat the green pellets, but not Blackie.

I decided we really needed to name the goats. The big brown one is definitely Henry like I named her at first.  The little white one that is going to have babies I named Sally, but I have decided she needs to be Greedy Gut, or Pet.  Probably Greedy Gut.  Then the other big dark brown one is Red Rover, like I named her, or just plain Red.  The black one has to be Blackie.  That leaves the white one with the brown head that looks like a Boar goat.  The one that gets stuck in the fence all the time.  George says her name is Ralph.  George does not much like Ralph.

So, we have Henry, Red, Ralph, Pet and Blackie.

Maybe I can get pictures later.
