All dressed up...

For the weather. When I bought this hat, neck warmer and gloves just before Christmas, I thought it was overkill.  The Toboggon and neck piece are both lined with fleece. I can pull the neck piece up over my noise. The hat has a button on face mask. I can't breath through the mask, but I hook it under my chin to keep the hat pulled down.  I had no idea I would wear it as much as I do.  With all this, my good boots, and the coat the kids got me for Christmas, I can even walk in this weather and stay warm.  I am ready for February to be gone.

10 degrees this morning

According to the weatherman. 11 according to my theometor. 16 now.

For the birds...

I have been wishing for bird seed for our birds. Yesterday, I looked in our feed box and there was part of a bag of sunflower seeds from last spring. mostly we have cardinals and sparrows plus these little grey birds. Feed the hungry. It will make you feel good.

Feeding time...

About time. The renter is here feeding his cows. In my view, he should feed them more often than he does in bad weather. and, he did go down and break the ice on the pond. I feel so bad for the poor things sometimes.

The last two days, I have been taking old meat from my freezer and cooking it for our outside dog. The weather does not seem to bother her. She has a place under the house, next to the heat ducts so she stays warm and dry, but it has been really cold.

It was 16 this morning, 22 now.

I have been off work the last two days. We are supposed to get snow Monday so I called this morning and arranged to be off all week if I the roads are bad.

So far, we have not lost electricity and I am leaving the water running in both bathrooms. It is not supposed to be above freezing till the end of next week.

This is not fun.

Findings

I need rock salt for the ice on my steps. I bet it is hard to find at the stores right now. But, look what I found on sister's porch. Brother was using it to entice the deer. Now it is mine. Finders keepers.

Plan for the worst...

 Hope for the best.

It is still very cold, 19 this morning, but stuff is no longer falling out of the sky on our heads.  Our roads are still icy, but the boys both got up the hill today.  I will not try till Monday if even then.  We still have electricity, and since ice is no longer falling, maybe our luck will hold.  It is supposed to snow Sunday into Monday, but snow is not as likely to cause the lines to fall, and is easier to drive on than ice.

This is what we had this morning.

See the lines.  No tree limbs in the right of way.

Same here.

And here.

That is because in October of 2019 Carroll Elect came out and did this.

At the time I thought it might be overkill and looked ugly. Today, I think it looks beautiful.

They did this same thing all over our county which is likely why I still have a warm house this morning with 19 degree weather.

We have ice

With more coming, but everyone at our house and the neighbor son's house is home safe.  We will just have to stay put for a few days.

Actually, we all went to work this morning. The two guys came right back home.  At 8:30 Greg called and said the hill was a sheet of ice. He told me to drive 5 mph. I did and still slid around on the hill but made it home safely. I told Tonya to come on home but she waited about an hour to start. she did not even make it out of town. She parked her car somewhere in town and JR went and got her in Dad's old white truck with no trouble. I will never let her forget this day.

I have had my nap so I think I will look for a book to down load now.

Stay warm. Wish for Spring.

All the news, pictures and weather

It has been really cold and nasty and going to get colder, but so far the roads have been clear every day.  The kids did not have school today, but we all made it to work just fine.

I have been taking some pictures with my little camera that I forgot I had intending to post them, but mostly I have just been sitting around whining about the weather.  Here are some pictures.

These are ducks on the pond a couple of days ago.  They disappeared for a couple of weeks, came back a few days and are gone again now.  I bet they are staying on Norton's pond when they are gone.

This is a pair of eagles I have seen many times in this same tree every time when I go around by Coin going to Harrison.  They always sit side by side in a tree on the hill across from the Eldridge house where Barb and Richard lived for so many years.

This was today around 3pm right across from my yard.

Just grazing,

Until they saw me and my camera, then away they ran.

Over the hill, across the fence and into the trees.
