Symbolic

This is anti-war protesters Grant Park, Chicago, 1968 during the Democratic National Convention. Tuesday night, our first Black President (hopefully anti-war) will celebrate his election is this same spot. At least one protester that was there in 1968 plans on being there again Tuesday night.

Changing Seasons

George is feeding the birds sunflower seeds again. He has had seeds out for about 3 days and the squirels have not found them yet.

Maybe these are Patsy's ducks on the pond but they look like 3 drakes to me.

Erin is a smart elick. She says it is too late for a garden. I am thinking about next year. I think I can live off my fat till spring.

And, Clayton wants his garden plowed also. We have absolutely beautiful weather in the upper 70's, and it is supposed to be this way all week.

Insurance

Just in case Patsy is wrong, ... again..., and John McCain is our next president, George is breaking a garden. That way we will not starve to death.

It was hailing here at 2 pm. Just for a minute...

I have a new prediction. I am predicting Biden will be elected. Did you know he is running for the Senate? Well, he is. So, I am predicting that he will win.

Clayton says Obama by a landslide.

Beautiful Day

We have had absolutely beautiful weather the last two days, even if we did have a couple of killing frosts.

On the election, I see that RealClearPolitics has moved Georgia into the toss up column. I don't think it is really a toss up, but it is interesting. McCain is doing a little better in Sister's state. I think the Repubs there were a little embarrassed that he was having to push in his own home state.

Joe the plumber was supposed to be at a rally with McCain this morning but he was a noshow. Poor John did not realize Old Joe was not there and called on him. This is really pitiful.

And, I am thinking Patsy may be right. We may see a landslide. John's pundits are saying if Obama gets Virginia and Flordia early in the evening, it is all over. We will soon know.

Prediction Update

I am updating my election prediction. This am I was looking at the Nevada numbers and decided I think the O will take Nevada. That adds 5 electoral votes to the O's total making it O 311, M 227.

This is the same numbers you will find at RealClearPolitics. The funny thing is, yesterday I decided for fun to do the prediction thing so I can see on election day if I am even close. So, I typed all the state names into and excell file with the electoral votes for each, then picked the ones I thought would go to each candidate. After I got this done and posted it, I saw that I had come up with the same numbers that RealClear had. Today, I decided to add Nevada to the O's column and then saw that RealClear had done the same. I think they are copying from me.

Patsy says the O will have 354 plus on Nov. 4. I googled election predictions Obama 354 and found others that agreed with her, but I am sure she is wrong.

Helen has clarified about her call to see where to go vote. She did not call anyone in AZ, she called some number she heard on MSNBC, so she deserved to get the runaround. But, I was still amazed that I could not find anything on the AZ Sec of State website about early voting.

The Backwoods State

Arkansas has a reputation of being behind the times, backwards, backwoodsy, redneck state. My little sister lives in John McCain's home state. People sometimes get these states mixed up because of their abbreviations, AR for us and AZ for McCain's, but most people likely think of AZ as progressive.

Patsy told me of a conversation she had with the AZ sister about trying to find out where to go vote in AZ. She knew where she went to vote if she waited till Nov. 4, but she did not know where to go vote early. Sister made 3 phone calls before someone told her where to go. The first two people she talked to told her she could not vote until Nov. 4. I do not know where Sister called that she could not get them to tell her where to go, but I knew in my county the county clerk is in charge of voting. I called there and they told me where to go in less than a minute.

I have been hearing ads on the radio about voting and going to a certain website to find out about voting, so I thought probably Sister who lives in the progressive A state probably had a state website that would tell her where to go, when the real people failed in their duty. I searched and found the AZ state website, and found the www.az.gov. In AR the Sec of State handles voting stuff, so I tried the Sec of State link from the AZ gov site. I searched and searched for at least 2 or 3 minutes, but I never did find anything on the AZ.gov website that said you could vote early or anything that would tell me where to go. It did say to call your County Recorder office, so maybe if I know Sister's county I could have eventually found the voting place, but nowhere did I find anything that said anything about voting early. They say McCain is behind the times concerning computers and the net. Maybe Patsy needs to get an outreach job from AR to AZ to teach all the old retired people out there about computers.

Now, for AR the backwoods state. As I said, I had heard on the radio about a website on voting, so I went to www.arkansas.gov and looked for something to tell me where to go. I hunted around for a minute or two with little success. The was a link on the page that said something about our Sec of State, Charley Daniels and voting, so I clicked on it. There was all sorts of information on that page that said early voting would be held in each county's courthouse and if you wanted to know if there was another voting place, call your county clerk. Then there was a link to search and see if you are registered. I tried that and found I was registered. From there, there was a button to click on to see where to vote (polling place). I clicked it and it said the Meth. Church in GF, which I already knew. But that is on Nov. 4th. If you want to vote early in Carroll Co., you go to the county court house.

I really could not believe that Sister called a government phone number and the person answering the phone did not even know she could vote early. I was dismayed that I did not find anything on the gov website about early voting.

The moral of this story is, if you are lost and need someone to tell you where to go, don't call the government in AZ. I wonder if AK has information about where to go vote on their government website.

My predictions

This is my prediction for the election.
Obama 306
McCain 232

Obama 53% of Popular Vote
McCain 44 % of Popular Vote

2. Palin will come out on top with this. She is ruthless and underhanded. She is going to stab McCain and his crew in the back and make it stick.

3. The economy will get VERY bad, because all this money the feds are passing out is only going to delay the fall. The feds (us) are going to continue to hand out money until we has none left to give. After giving so much to the fat cats the states are going to go broke, but the feds will not have money to bail the states out and then down we go. Already, they gave all that money to the banks and the banks took it and hid it under their matresses.

4. The TV people are going to delay calling this election because of the way the last two have gone. If we go to bed before 1 am, it will be because we have decided on our own to call it. Besides, the TV people know that when they call it we turn off the TV and go to bed. They want us to stay tuned.

5. Cheney will wheezel out of everything, but that other one, what was his name? Rumsfeld will be in trouble.

6. Obama is not going to name the people to his cabinet that the knowitalls expect him to. We are going to see some new names.

The number 306 is what RealClearPolitics have for Obama today.
