Back in Arkansas...

We left Clinton, Tennessee about 7 this morning and got here to Betty's at 4 pm.  We gained an hour crossing the time zone, so it took us 10 hours.  We stopped and ate twice and stopped a couple more times and just walked around.  Google says it should take 8.5 hours so we did pretty good.  Did not have any trouble.

Both my car keys had to have new batteries but I just went to a Chevy dealer in Clinton and got them to do it for me.  Other than that we did not have any trouble and had a great time.

We found no new breakthroughs, but still had a great time.  Back hom tomorrow.  Back to work Tuesday.

Today Rhea County, tomorrow Home Jeeves

Today we visited Rhea County, Tennessee where Ben Cooper married Nancy Jennings.  We did not find anything new, but had a good day just the same.

This county was the where the Scopes trial was held in 1925.  In reading about that trial, it seems to me the whole thing was a publicity stunt dreamed up by the Rhea County politians.

Campbell County, Tennessee and a hint at Claiborne County

Betty at Campbell County Courthouse.  We found lots of incidential records, but not our Ben.  At lease we have records of two of his brothers.

Betty by a Civil War cannon at the Campbell County Courthouse.  We went on to Claiborne County but got no pictures, and no records. Tomorrow Rhea County and then Saturday is Home Jeeves.

Grainger County is a bust...

We drove many little roads in Grainger and Anderson County yesterday.  We did not find anything new at the Grainger County Courthouse, but we had fun.

Since I have to drive, Betty is my only source of pictures. She is not a good travel photogapher.  We settled into our hotel in Clinton Tennessee last night.  Today we will see if Andersn County has any gold in their hills.

I was suprised that we have not seen any real mountains here, just hills and dales.  I sortof expected mountains like we saw in the Great Smokies and North Carolinia last year.

500 miles away away from home

So far so good.  Made it safety to the motel, had fish dinner and ready to relax.
