Junkin' Day

I go back to work Monday, so I decided to go Junkin' today.  I have been wanting to the the power tools out of the bedroom floor.  I was going to put them outside under the carport, but they might get stolen there since there will be no one here during the day.  Today, I found an old small cedar chest.  It was really beat up on top, but was  just the right size to fit under the window where the tools have sat for years.  It was good and sturdy, but the wood was gouged and even had two holes in the top.  But, it was only $30 and the right size.

I set it up under the window with Grandma Powell's quilt that Winnie gave me covering the top.  

The tools fit inside nicely.

And, I also bought this pretty wooden hat box and a Dale Earnhardt Jr. tin sign for Robert.

I think I will store photos in it.

Hannah has went to stay with a friend so Robert and I are going to celebrate by going to Western Sizlin.  It is seafood night.  He loves shrimp and I like the frog legs.

It is turning cold.  Supposed to be below freezing tomorrow night.  Glad I got the little heater going.

Got to go feed the goats so we can get going.

A Bakers Dozen

This is our 12 Girls, an even dozen.  I think they are all bred.  We  have 3 that will be a year old the end of November.  I had intended to wait till the first of November to breed them, but Earnhardt has been our among them a few times and I think all the are bred except the 2 really young ones.  We have two females that are just 5 months old that should not be bred.

He is pretty.

This is Big White's billy, Milkdud.  We sold him to Linda T and she came and got him yesterday. He was just 4 months old, but was pretty good sized.  This pic was taken the second week of August.  In the last month, his head and neck began to take on the look of a real billy.  I am glad he has gone to a good home, because I was having to pen him up to keep him from breeding the two little nannies.

This is the purple plum tree my QA friends at work got me with the mum from Lisa planted next to it.  I think they are goat proof.

I have been cleaning and tossing.  I have done all the rooms except for Robert's room.  I am starting on it today, but it may take a few days.  It is in quite a mess.

We got Hannah's room painted and Aunt Helen made her new curtains.  It looks really pretty.  I will post pics tomorrow.  Now it is on to cleaning.

Bonding with sister

Or coming unglued.

Yesterday, Sister and I went to Harrison searching for a desk for my computer and printer.  I had a computer  hutch that was falling apart that I threw out last week.  We found the perfect desk.

This is actually a maple serving cart with wheels.  It was only $55 at Lovejoy's junk store.  I think it was priced so low because it is way to wobbly to use as a cart.  It works great as a desk.  It has a flip up leaf on each end.

When I am not using the computer, which is most of the time, I just put it away like this.  This also leaves my printer much more easily accessible.  That is important because my printer is the neighborhood printer, used by neighbors in both east and west.

We also got this neat box for Robert's little cars.  The tin sign on top came from our new Hobby Lobby in Harrison.  He loved it and has it full of cars already.

We went by the cemetery.  Sister had been there the day before and removed the fresh flowers. I did not get a closeup but the grave marker from the funeral home has his military photo on it.  It really looks nice.  We have order the military marker.  It will will be at the foot of the grave.  I will wait a few weeks before ordering the big marker.  I think I am going with grey granite.  Sister says get one like Dad and Mom/s.  I told her she does not have a vote.  The voters all said I am the decider. Things are still much the same, only different. I have always been the decider.

Rainy day

So, I will not be walking this am as planned.  I am going to start my daily walk again, so I will try for after Church to see if the skies clear.

Yesterday, I walked over to the Y by Molders.  I think that is about 4 miles round trip, but I have forgotten my mileage points on the road.  It has been over a year since I walked daily.

Greg went back to Alabama yesterday.  He arrived safely,  and will return to work Monday.

I am going to take 2 more weeks off before going back to work.

The kids are handling it all much better than I expected.  One day at a time, just trying to enjoy life.

George Aday, A Hard Working Man

GEORGE HENRY ADAY, SR., of Green Forest, Arkansas was born February 1, 1947 in Sacramento, California, son of George Washington and Pearl Alice (McLain) Aday. He departed this life October 6, 2017 in Little Rock, Arkansas, at the age of 70 years. 

George was a proud United States Army veteran, serving three tours of duty in Vietnam. He loved working and helping others. His entire life was one of service to his family, community and country.

On August 4, 1972, he was united in marriage with Fleta Mae (Powell) Aday, who survives him. He is also survived by his two sons, Gregory Aday and George Aday, Jr. both of Green Forest, Arkansas; brother, Leroy Aday of Reno, Nevada; sister, Conda Mayder and husband, Gary, of Sacramento, California; four grandchildren, Steven Lane Aday, Emily Aday, Robert Lee Aday, II, and Hannah Lee Aday; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones and many friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Washington and Pearl Alice (McLain) Aday; brother, Robert Aday and sister, Wanda Smith.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Nelson’s Green Forest Chapel. Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 12, 2017 at the Alpena Cemetery, Alpena, Arkansas with Brother Frankie Powell officiating.
