Plain Vanilla Google

Patsy is having trouble with her Google home page again. I like the plain vanilla google home page. It always has a search button. But, I also have IE 6.0 because my computer will not install 7 or 8. I think having an older browser helps protect me from some of the newer irritations all over the web.

Any, I was wondering what had happened to Patsy's google page. I think usually these things happen when the web company offers you new and improved whatever. You click and it sticks. My home page has one button at the top that says Igoogle. I clicked on that and got a google page with a button titled Look for new stuff. I quickly looked for safer button to click on. In the upper left of the screen, I saw a Classic Home link. I clicked on that and was quickly back where I started.

Patsy said google told her to push the return button on her keyboard. She did not know what the return button was. I bet a person about Patsy's age wrote those instructions. The return button was the button on an electric typewriter that would return the carriage back to the left margin so you could start a new line. A non electric typewriter, which is the kind I learned to type on, had a return lever you had to slap to return the carriage to the left. More than one person in our typing class returned the carriage with such gusto so as to make the entire carriage detach from the machine and go flying across the room. It is really funny that a company that is so much a computer company like google would use a term from the mechanical typewriter age.

Patsy, here is the link to my plain vanilla google home page.

Maybe if you click on it you will see a search button. But, maybe not. When Google gives us instructions for using a typewriter, it may be too late to turn back.

It just started raining. It is supposed to rain all night and all day tomorrow and turn cold. Fall is here.

Family Calendar

I have always thought that Melissa talked just like her mother. Her voice does not sound the same, but her accent and her words sound just like Helen.
Melissa is just as much a pest as her mother. But, her mother is the one that cannot spell.
We have had to update the calenders again, because of the fussy twosome. I have put both calenders here
I will try to remember where they are and put one in this same place each year. I know I did one and put it somewhere on the web last year, but I cannot remember where it is. Oh well, it would not have suited the fuss budgets anyway.
The babies are here. We are going to go to McDonald's this afternoon and eat and play. They enjoy playing there and I enjoy getting to just sit and watch. They have a park in Green Forest but it is a lot of work to take them to a regular park. You have to push them on the swings, watch that they don't fall off, and watch that they do not leave the park. At McDonald's they are contained within the play equipment and cannot fall out and contained within the play area by a fence. As long as I sit between them and the door, I can just sit in the sun and let them play. The last time we stayed about 2 hours.

Patsy Lies!!!!!!!!

And here is the proof.

She said I do not have any Great Grandchildren. That is a lie. All four of my grandchildren are GREAT. My children are just ordinary, but my grandchildren walk on water.

But, Helen is a pest.

Here is a 2009 birthday calendar

with her grandkids, including the one that came today

and this is a revised 2010 days with Clayton Jones and all Helens kids.

For the sisters

that are too old to remember how old they are, I have posted a 2010 PDF calendar with birthdays and anniversities here
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~powell/HelensCalendar.pdf

I have not updated it in two or three years, so Clayton Jones, Siggy and the 10 grandchildren Helen has had in the last few years are not on here. You will have to write them in by hand, and you will have to supply your own pictures because I aint walking down no stinking hill.

The girl has a new dog

Emmy has a new puppy named Coco. He is really cute and so is she.

This is the way the two grandkids looked a very short time ago on a summer day.

The boy goes to school at Hollister and is in the 8th grade this year. It was Boliver that beat them Tuesday. They play Reeds Springs next Tuesday.

Tuesday Night Football

Here is Lane, # 16, before the game already drinking.

Here is the coin toss.

This is sometime towards the end of the first half. Grandpa says you can see from this where he spent most of his time.

Here is one of the better action shots. He is in the backfield next to the ref.

This is the way most of the action shots looked. I had the camera set on night settings. Next time I am going to try sports and see if that will work. You need slow shutter speeds for the low light (night settings) but you need fast shutter speeds for the action shots (sports). I think Lane is behind #7 in this picture. If you click on the pictures, you can see the larger view.

The good news is Lane scored a touchdown, his team's first of the night.

The bad news is they got trounced 50 to 18.

The good news is, Lane did not get hurt.

The bad news is I did not get home till after 10, well past my bedtime.

The good news is, I can go to bed with the chickens tonight.

The bad news is, we have to do it all over again next Tuesday.

The good news is, we get to do it all over again next Tuesday.
