Camping near Taft

Hills with ruffles.

George's home town.

He said at one time they live in a house where this vacant lot is now.

And, I think this house.  I think this is the one he said caught fire when they live there.

At the lake at camp.

George working on the RV.  With the help of his friend Richard's tools he got it all fixed.

Hannah/s rabbit.

By the way, several of George's friends showed up at the funeral.  There were two local old friends there that others had notified of the service, but George had 4 or 5 people he contacted that came to the cemetery that day.  It is small town like home. There were two funerals at the same time.  Someone looking for the other funeral stopped and they knew George.

Robert Lee Aday Memeorials...

At the park in Maricopa they had memorial markers with many names including George's Dad, Mom, and brother.

Maricopa High School.

Robert Lee Aday memorial plaque inside the school.

Grave marker at Santa Barbara Cemetery.

We had trouble locating the marker, but Hannah said she would find it and she did.

Robert is always saying he would like to live 'there'.  I keep trying to find his perfect house, like this one.

Tomorrow, off to California

Tomorrow we go west, young man, young woman and 2 old people.

George's sister's Memorial is Tuesday Aug 1 at the Taft Cemetery.

We should get to Taft Sunday night. We will be in Taft till the morning of the third we move to Casitas Lake campground near Ojai, about 30 minutes from Ventura.  I wanted to stay on the beach at Ventura, but that is fair week and we could not find a beach spot.  On Friday, Aug 4, remember August 4, 1972?, we move to Ventura about a mile or two from the beach.

We plan on going up to Santa Barbara for one day and visiting Robert's grave and enjoying a day at the Warf and beach there.  Sunday, Aug 6, we are going out on a Whale watching tour boat.  Hope to see lots of sea animals and fish.  I am really looking forward to this.

We start home Monday, Aug 7.  Should take about 3 days to get home.

See you later.

We may even visit this place, as we pass within a few miles on our way back.

Kentucky River in the rain.

Monday most things were closed.  We went to Perryville Battlefield and sat on the Squire Bottom house porch with a view of Doctors Fork.  I  have more pics on the camera but these are uploaded from my phone to google and easy to get to.  I have rocks from Doctors Fork and wild flowers from its banks.  I hope to get seed to plant.

This is the map of the battlefield showing the Bottom house just a few hundred yards from Doctors Fork.

Today. we are going to Mammoth Cave, tomorrow a Corvette museum.

Starting home Friday. Probably be home Saturday.
