I got my Blogger Album Archives images

Donna has a post aboout Blogger Album Archives here https://donna-justme.blogspot.com/2023/06/google-bloggers-help-me-figure-this-out.html .

Betty wanted to know how to get to her Blogger Album archives.  I have a link to my and did not remember how to help her find hers.  I googled how do I find my Blogger Album Archivers and got this.

https://get.google.com/albumarchive  A window opens up for me with one images and a message saying tht this will no longer be available after July 19 with a link to explain more.  This only means the album arhives will no longer be available.  Your images on your blog will still be there on each post, unchanged.

If I click on my one image, I can see 14 more images.  When I click on any one of these images, I get a folder full of individual images.  You can right click on any one image and download it to your computer.  So, if you only have a few images you want to retrieve, this is an easy solution. The number of images and folders we each have in the archives depends on the number of photos we have on our blogs.

to download all your photos click https://takeout.google.com/takeout/custom/album_archive or go to Donna's blog and read the entire message about Album archive takeout.

I downloaded my archives.  The message that comes up says this may take hours to prepare, but it only took minutes for mine and I have lots of photos.  After your 'takeout' is ready you get an email with a clickable link.  My link had two zip files for me to download. Again, that depends on the size of your photo archive.  Some may have several zip files to download.  The mazimum size of each file is 2GB.

This is what I got when I downloaded my files.

The first two files are the zipped files I downloaded.  I right clicked on each file and chose EXTRACT All.  This took a few minutes for the larger file and a minute or so for the smaller file.  The two bottom folders are the extrqcted folders.

When I cliked on the extracted folder [takeout-202...., I see a folder that just says takeout.  Clicking on takeout and see Album Archive. Click there and get a folder that says Blogger. Click on the Blogger folder to see more folders starting with dates.  Click on these date folders to see  your images.  There will be an image and a Json file for each image.  You can ignore the json files. Some of my folders had more Json files that images.

This is what one of my image folders looked like.

On a Windows system in file explorer you can click on View Details and see a list of your files with the file type. Click on Type and sort the list with images first.  I have no ideal how to do any of this on Apple products.

I am glad I downloaded my albums. I think I will copy all the images over into one image folder.  Just in case, I will leave the original folders like they are.

Thanks to Donna for getting me started.  I got the same message she did but was going to just ignore it.  Her post got my cuiosity going to see how this all would work out.

UPDATE:  Sort, Copy, Paste worked!  I now have one folder on my desktop with 4,261 images from my blog that I started in 2006.
