Today in History...

For the sisters, today is the day Patsy's daughter Janet was born 56 years ago.  At that time, Sister was living on the outskirts of Sacramento.  One summer, the year escapes me, but it was likely '65, Brother Clayton took a Greyhound out there for the summer. This was a working vacation as he took a job in the canning factory where Dillard worked just for the summer and rode the hound home again when school started.

This was likely taken shortly after the family returned to Arkansas, maybe '66 or '67.

I have good memories of Patsy. She believed in speaking her mind.

Patsy never complained of her hardships in life. About her children she said she was proud—not drunks, work, we’re jail birds. She was special.
