Thinking...

The pine tree.  When we were kids, this tree down by the walnut grove was The Pine Tree.

And this is The Dogwood.  We also had The Walnut tree, but it has been gone for 40 years.

I have been thinking about the virus being so awful in places like New York City,  yet I have not even heard anyone here say that they even know anyone who has the virus.  Carroll County, so 'they' say, currently has 2 confirmed cases.  Of course, population density makes a big difference.  I googled some numbers just to get a better picture.

These are 2018 numbers.

New York State population =19,450,000
Area sq miles = 54, 556
New York City population = 8,398,748
Area sq miles = 302.6

Arkansas State population = 3,018,000
Area sq miles = 53,179
Carroll County population = 28,223
Area sq miles = 639

So:
New York State is 1.03 (about the same) size of Arkansas
and has 6.44 times the population of Arkansas

New York City is .47 (about half) the size of Carroll County
and has 297 times the population of Carroll County

This next calculation was inspired by an official of Montgomery County Arkansas, I think the County Judge.  He said you could line up all the people of his county in a single file line across the county and they could still stand more than 6 feet apart.

Carroll County is about 45 miles across from East to West, so that is enough room for over 39,000 people to line up single file 6 feet apart.

I doubt that anyone in New York City or maybe even New York State has a tree named The Pine Tree, or The Dogwood Tree.

That is my explanation of population density.

Remember the little pond. The cattle guard? The bottoms? The black haw tree? The cave?
So much to remember.
