Busy Body

I have been wasting time searching around the net trying to figure out about our DNA no Powell matches.  It has been a mystery to me what exactly out DNA results tell us, (not much).  In the FTDNA database they have 623 twelve marker matches for us, two 25 marker matches (but no Powells), and no 37 marker matches.  I have found webpages that say matches to people with other surnames probably just means our connection is from thousands of years back.  Even with a match in our own surname that is 1 marker off of a 12 marker perfect match, the connection would likely be at least 1000 years ago.

So, I really have not found out much.  But, I have had brother's DNA added to the National Genographic Project.  When our results show up in their records, I will share how to go to the site and log in to see what they show.   I think they only take the records from FTDNA and do not run the tests again, but our results were not in there records this morning eventhough they did show they had received the data.

I am sure Helen will be most anxious to get the password.
