August 18, 2007

This is what we did no Helen's birthday. George wanted to take his boat to the lake and no one else wanted to go, so I volunteered to go with him. We left a 9 am and set in a Enon. At 11:15 we had been cruising 45 minutes and were just past the dam when the boat died and would not start. We got another boater to pull us into the dock at the dam. Our daughter in law, Laura, came from work only a few minutes away and picked us up. We thought we would just borrow her car so she would not have to miss much work, but she insisted on taking us all the way to Enon to get the truck. We got home around 4 pm and I was very tired. I took a bath and went to bed. At 7, I got up and stayed up for about 2 hours and then went to bed again. All in all, it was a trying and exhausting day. But it is over. That is probably what Mama thought 53 years ago yesterday.

'A tiring and exhausting day but thank heaven it is over,' is probably what she thought...Mama did not think ahead and worry about a lot of things.....she did not realize that was the easiest day of her life she would ever have with me until I moved away from home..
