Our Round Robin Family Blog

I have to admit that I am enjoying this Round Robin Family Blog thing Patsy got us started on. I still think Patsy's is the most entertaining of the blogs, and I still like the comment thing and how it works more than the blog thing. Anyway, I thought I would post a pic of myself on my blog, so here I am, first grade, nice hand me down suit from cousin Winnie Jo, hair cut by Mama.

Patsy, since you got us started by saying you like to read other peoples blogs, I tried all your links. Could not get interested. Most are very long winded and boring, like mine. Tired searching blogs for things of interest, but I suspect we are not interested in the things that interest main stream world, so found nothing of interest. Tired clicking the next blog button at the top of the page for almost and hour, must have seen 25 to 50 bloggy blogs. not one of any interest. tired to fill in my profile, but have no interest in most of the things they ask about. tried to add my photo to my profile and it said i have to have one online to link to, so here is one. and while looking for this photo on my puter, found an interest beside dead relatives and puters. PICTURES. I bet I have over 5000 pics on my computers.

At work yesterday, some of us were talking about decorating, funiture and so forth. Talked of cook stoves when we were children. told them my mother lived to be 72 and never owned a new stove (all second hand), bought her first new sofa when she was almost 70 yrs old, owned one or two new refirgerators, never owned a new dinning room set, never owned a new bed room set. Myself, most of my furniture was bought used (bedroom, living room and table and chairs) but I never buy used appliances (new fridge, stove, washer, dryer, computer). My living room couch and love seat was $50 at a garage sale. My camera cost $500 plus extra for the accessories.

Do you remember the kitchen table we had for years until Betty sat in the middle of it and broke it in half? Anyone have a pic of that table?

Patsy! Quick, go get in the ditch!!

It is raining hell bent for dixie outside. We have tornado warnings out. The weather man says if you live in a mobile home you are supposed to go lie in a ditch when we have storm warnings. Someone call Patsy and tell her to go get in the ditch... 

Roscoe

This is Roscoe, Jackie's dog. Today Jackie and I cleaned up a place for Greg to build a chicken pen, cause the chickens she got from Patsy last year were still under warantee and Patsy is going to give her some more. Jackie was afraid we would see snakes so I moved the snakey looking stuff. I am not afraid of unseen snakes, only seen ones. There were no seen snakes under the piles of junk, but there were a few seen rats. Roscoe sent all the seen rats to rat heaven. Bless his heart.

Of Brothers and Sisters

Last Saturday, my nephew got married. The wedding was beautiful. About 6 months ago nephew Gary asked Brother Clayton if he knew anyone who could take photos at the wedding. Brother volunteered me. I was somewhat worried about the picture thing, but then remembered something I had read about someone worrying about this same situation. Her husband told her not to worry, "If they had wanted a real photographer they would have hired one." I got some really beautiful photos of the beautiful bride and others in attendance, including the grooms parents above.

I took some of the photos to work to show them around including this one of my brother and his bride. Twice, when someone asked me who was in this photo, I indentified the couple as my brother and sister. Old brother is a decade older than I am, so I was about 10 years old when his bride came into my family. She seems like a sister. After all, she has been a part of my family longer than the majority of my other living relatives. So, Gary and Cheryl, the people at work now know what is wrong with you. Your mom and dad are siblings. I guess this makes this an Arkansas story. 

Am I not an American?

First Sister

Many immigrants from south of our borders now live in my home town and work side-by-side with me. I often hear others complain that these are not real Americans and they should go back to their own country. These comments always bring to mind a long list of my own immigrant ancestors that came to this country to became Americans. If we are not of Native American descent, how can we be anymore American than these new arrivals? Koenratt Koltman was a resident of Gundheim, Germany in 1698, a Lutheran registered in the Churchbooks at Dalsheim. Koenraat Koltman, his wife, and five children were in the sixth party of refugees to reach Rotterdam, Holland in 1709. He first appears on the Hunter Lists in New York on July 4, 1710 with two persons over ten years and three persons under ten. If he is my ancestor, am I then not an American? Am I a German?
