Stuff
I got stuff. This is a indoor / outdoor wireless thermometer I got with money a supervisor at work gave me for Xmas. I like having a indoor / outdoor thermometer. We had one for years that had a wire through the window. It gave out after about 10 years, so 2 years ago I got a wireless version. It did not work very well. To get it to receive a signal through my thin walls I had to set the indoor part by a window about 10 feet from the outdoor part even though it said it worked up to 100 feet. It gave out last summer. I said I was not going to get another wireless, but I could not find the other kind, so I got this one. It works much better than the first one. It even has a 24 hour high/low feature that works (unlike the fictitious high/low feature on the last one). It also has a date / clock that sets automatically like a cell phone. Last night our low was 28 degrees and the high today was 60. That is outside. Inside we were at 72/80 degrees. George likes to keep the house very warm.
I also got Erin's curtains. Betty was right. We have similar tastes. They look a lot like some I was considering buying but decided against because I am not sure of the color I want. Since these were priced right, I am going to put them up. George is supposed to put up my new curtain rods this week and then I will post pics.
Incidentally, someone commented on my for let phrase, so I went looking for the source of this phase. I found I did not know the meaning. I thought something for let was something you were giving away. I found that To Let is a British expression meaning having a living space for rent, as in to let for profit.
We also got a couple of new plain light fixtures for the living room and the hallway. George is trying to put the one up in the hallway. It works, but is not completely installed. He is still working on it. Pictures to follow. They are just simple light fixtures. Again, I am not sure what I want, so we went with simple, plain and cheap for now. After we get the kitchen done, we may rethink the whole lighting scheme.
We have an audit at work tomorrow, and I am very tired tonight from all the extra work. But, if we live through tomorrow, the audit stuff should be over until at least April. They have been making cut backs at work and eliminating jobs, so I am looking at the extra work as job security. There are really several things I do at work that no one else has any idea how to get done, because they involve getting our company's priority computer program to give up masses of data. When I finally leave, they are going to be in a mess because, at least right now, we do not even think we have anyone that is capable of learning these things.
I will be glad when tomorrow is history.
