August 23rd, Fall '09??
At 8 am this morining it was foggy and a cool 50 degrees. Decidely fall like. For those who have lived in the desert for years and do not remember, fall weather would usually come to the Ozarks in mid to late September, not the last week of August.
I have a pot of Roma tomatoes stewing on the stove. Clayton gave me some Roma tomato plants this spring after I killed all of mine. The Roma's planted in a corner of my garden that did not get chicken litter piled on have done very well. I had never grown Roma tomatoes and will never again. They are great producers, but taste like cardboard. I think I will make salsa with them. I have never tried to make salsa. I have a couple of recipes but I may go ask brother for advice. He makes salsa almost every year. While I am there, I may steal a couple of his good tomatoes. I have a pot roast to cook for supper along with some corn on the cob from the garden. I need good tasting tomatoes to go with the corn.
I have had a cold, so I did not go get the babies this week end. I thought I would just make them sick. I feel somewhat better today. I should be all well to get them next week end and see how the boy is doing with school.
