For Helen

This is my side of the bed after I cleaned today. The iron and can of starch are here because sometimes I iron what I am going to wear to work early in the am. The lamp next to the bed is the one Mama gave me. The extra lamp is a little touch lamp (you just touch the lamp anywhere to turn it on) that used to be Gregs. I did not think I would like it but I do. I did have it on the kitchen table. I do not know why I moved it in here. Maybe over the 4th when we had the bbq here. Anyway, I have not moved it back. The fish tank under there is from Greg also. I had it in the closet in the back room, but I got it out becasue I am going to fill it with dirt and plant cuttings from my pretty plants to hold over for next spring. I had it sitting on a little table in the back bedroom, but since I had guests coming, I wanted to find a place to hide it. This is much, much cleaner than it was yesterday. I can see the mirror is dirty, but it is just going to stay dirty. That chair is the $10 chair that I bought the summer Jr. got married. I just love it, but really have no place to put it, so it is here. That is a quilt Mama made for me when I was in Alaska on the old trunk. The trunk is full of more junk. But, today, when I was putting up the clothes in my room and needing a place to put them, I put almost a whole drawer full of pants in the burn barrell. They had been in the drawer all summer and I had not worn any of them so I tossed them and put the clothes that I had worn and washed this week in their place. I am not neat or clean, but I am the most stylish of all the sisters. We each have to have our strong points.

Patsy's hen is setting. I thought we might get babies becasue I thought Clayton had a rooster running loose, but George says not.




This is where we are on the walkway. We have to get more rocks, but that will have to wait a while.

Company is coming tomorrow. I am taking off Wed, Thur and Friday. I think Wednesday we are going to Qzark Folk Center in Mt. View. I have always wanted to go and George would take me about any time, but he would want to drive down the highway as fast as he could to get there, turn around in the driveway and drive as fast as he could back stopping only to go to the bath room. Then if I should mention that we could stop and get a burger, he would say 'we can have a better burger at home.' That is what we are going to do tomorrow. If you ask him, he would probably say it is easier that way.

I have not got much house cleaning done and I had to work late 2 days this week. Tomorrow I will get to leave work about 10:30 since I worked over today. I need to clean the fridge and a few other things. George's sisters, Conda and Wanda, will be here Sunday afternoon. We are picking them up at Springfield about 3 pm.

We have some of the rock walkway done, but company over the weekend and rain all week have put a stop to that. At least with all the rain, George washed the dishes today and washed clothes. Maybe he will vaccume tomorrow.

I kept thinking all week I needed to post so everyone would know I had not died, but it did not happen. I will try to do better....

Greg came in Sunday because the hurricane was supposed to hit where he was in Texas, but it did not. The kids and their mother went back with him, to stay as far as I know. I did not ask many questions. They got back down there safely and he went back to work today.
