Lazy Saturday

Just sitting around waiting for Helen's carport people to show up.  Just like her to schedule something and then run off.

Earlier in the week, Greg and George put a gate on the cemetery for me.  I had asked Greg to make me a gate from a cattle panel but they decided instead to use this gate that we had on hand.  It was across JR lane, but there is not fence on one side of the lane so I always called it the gate to nowhere.

This is our Mama deer that stays somewhere on our side the road down below the pond somewhere.  We have seen her several times since George cut the grass.

Here she is with the fawn following her just a bit ago.

And the spotted baby.

Again.

This is my new goat trailer I bought from Joe Kelly.  It is old and shop made but it is really strong.  Will be good for goat hauling, or even a cow or horse if we ever had a cow or horse.

Family Portraits

All the girls.

Bertha, Herd Mother.

Big Red, and Little Red.  Red is the largest goat we have and I think Little Red is going to be the largest of the new crop.

Big White and her December nannie, Holly.

Crazy Patsy, born March 2013, of Big White. She is one year and 4 months old and has had 4 kids, two nannies and two billies.

Lady Grey.  Her kids are somewhat bigger than Bertha's kids.  She has had 3 kids, 1 nannie and 2 billies.

Little Sister born May 2012.  She has had 5 kids, 2 nannies and 3 billies.

Baby Grey born Oct 2013 has had one nannie.

JJ, Bertha's nannie from Oct 13.  I think she probably got bred in April, but it is too early to tell.

Holly, Big White/s Dec 13 nannie.  She cold be bred, or not.

Boots, Crazy Patsy's Dec nannie.  Our only black nannie.

CC [Christmas Carol], Little Sister's Dec nannie. She is tiny and I think she is bred.

Little Red, born in Jan 2014. Very pretty.

Dolly, Little Sister's June nannie.  She is the only brown spotted nannie we have.  I hope she grows a little bigger than her mother and sister.

Snow White, Baby Grey's June nannie.  She is soooo cute.

June Bug, Crazy Patsy's June nannie.  Our only predominately brown nannie.

Big White and her 3 female off spring.

Little Sister and Dolly.

2014 Billies

We got the check for the Billy Goat Sale.  The 5 billies brought $208, yardage was $29.50, net was $178.50.  Two billies sold together for $52.50, and I think that was probably Bertha's two.  One sold for $20, which was probably Lil Sister's spotted billy that was only 6 weeks old.  One sold for $44 and one for $39, which was probably Lady Grey's billies, because they were somewhat bigger than Bertha's billies even though they were almost the same age.

This was taken a month ago, on June 19.  That is Bertha's two in the back on the left.  Lady Grey's two behind on the right, Little Sister's little spotted billy in front.  The spotted on in the middle is Little Sister's nannie born in December.  She is almost smaller than the billies beside her. Bertha's billies were born April 27th, Lady Grey's billies April 9th, and the little ones in front were born June 9th.

Lady Grey and her billies.

Little Sis and billy on left, nannie on right.

I am glad to be rid of the billies.  Now, the little nannies can take a rest before they get bred back.  We plan on buying a billie near the end of September or beginning of October.  And, I think we will take that little spotted nannie to market when we go to look for a billy.  Might even take Little Sister.  She sure had little kids.
