Neighbor

Went out in the copter again.  I hope she gets better.

This is the second time this year they have taken her out this way.

I bought more flowers.  I went to the German's greenhouse just to get a few plants to put around my birdbath by the deck.  I got many more flowers than I needed.  I also got some zuchini and cucumber plants.  I planted squash and cucumber seeds that I got from Clayton, so we have have tons of squash and cucumbers.

Helen should be here any time now.  Tuesday, we are going down to see Betty, so I guess Betty is spending the week end cleaning house.

How many sisters??

First, there is Patsy...

Then Fleta...

Then Betty...

Then Helen...

This was taken a long time ago.  So long I forgot when it was, but from left to right...

Fleta, Helen, Betty, Patsy
Debbie in the insert died in '83.

This was really a long time ago.  Patsy is not in the picture.
Old women are Fleta, Helen, Betty...
Old men are Clayton, Gilbert, and Richard.
Richard died in '08.

The sisters name came from our family history hobby.  Me, Betty and Patsy started looking for our Powell family history sometime in the 90's.  We published a Powell family newsletter for a couple of years and started  our Powell family website.  We needed a name and decided on The Three Sisters.  I even designed us a logo...

We organized a family reunion and had it at my brother Clayton's house even though he had no say in anything to do with the event and no interest in our hobby.  We invited over one hundred that he had never met and he had to feed them all.  Someone at the reunion asked Helen who she was.  She said she was Helen, the fourth Sister.  They said, 'No you are not.  There are only three sisters.'

I did not mean

that anyone had forgotten Debbie's birthday.  After Debbie was born, her birthday overshadowed her sister's birthday that was the next day for as long as Debbie lived.  The rest of us had birthdays off to ourselves.  Me and Mama both had birthday's in January, Daddy and Gilbert shared July, but the days were not that close together.  The rest of you had the only birthday in your month, but from the time Debbie was born, her day always out shown Patsy's day.  Remember the year we tried to fool Debbie by pretending to forget her birthday?

But, really what brought the thought of Debbie's day was the cold weather.  I looked back at my blog entires for May 2nd since '06.  I did not find any weather information, only things about Debbie and Patsy.

Today was warmer, around 60 or so, not sure of the exact number and the sun was shinning most of the day.  NO RAIN today.  Thank you Lord.

Remember when Patsy got us started on blogging?  I thought it was not a worthwhile activity.  I think I was the last to actually start blogging.  Now, even though I do not post as regularly as I should, I have come to depend on our blogs to keep in touch and in tune with all the sisters.  Every once in a while, I look back through our posts to see what was going on at this time last month or last year.  Since looking for historical weather for May 2nd with no success, I think I will make the daily weather a part of my posts.  Except, my posts are never daily.  Weekly is more like it for me. I guess I need to see if I can get Patsy to make weather a part of her daily post.  Then, next year I can look back and see what the weather was a year ago.  I know everyone else has gone over to facebook, but I like the blogs.  Getting us started blogging is one of the nicest things Patsy has done for us.  She is our leader.

Now, we need to get brother started.

Happy birthday Patsy.  We all love you even if you have always been second best to Debbie.

Blessed are the pure in heart

Debbie Lee Powell, 2 May 1956 - 30 June 1983

Baby sister, I still miss you.  Tomorrow is Old Sister's day, but for 26 years May 3rd took a back seat to May 2nd.  Now we are six because two are missing are missing.

People who wrote today's headlines have no idea what is important in the world.

And, today was cloudy and cool.  One of the coolest days on record here.  It was 45 degrees at 2 pm.  We have gotten 2 inches of rain since yesterday morning.  I sure hope the other sister's day is brighter and warmer than today.

George is up at the tourist tarp watching after the big boy.  He took my laptop so I am on the old one.  It is like old sister.  Does whatever it wants and pays no attention whatsoever to what you are telling it to do.

Happy birthday, both sisters.  God, please chase the gloom away from our skies and our lives...
