Well, I thought this year's taxes might be the death of me, but I just finished filling Federal and State and get money back from both. I thought we might have to pay in on both, but a lot of what George made is not taxable. I usually file the first week of February, but had been putting it off this year, afraid of what I would find. I am surprised and pleased.
It is rainy and cold, 43 degrees right now. I am making chili for supper. George worked about 4 or 5 hours today and he says he probably will not work tomorrow. Maybe he will cook for us tomorrow. If he does it will either be lunch meat sandwiches or fried eggs. Maybe I will just do my own cooking.
I am thinking when it warms up, I am going to plant onions and potatoes. The garden looks good all tilled and ready to plant. It is too cold to do anything this week end. Wish I had a good book to read. It is good reading weather, gloomy and cool.

Some news for Helen...
Well, sorta news. I went to the historical society today to pick up papers to transcribe and Omagene was asking if Lois' estate had sold yet. I told her I thought the lawyer Charlie Davis had gotten the place. She said Charlie Davis was lawyer and was Lois' cousin. She said his mother was Stella Fultz, sister to Lizzie Morris.
She knows someone who she thinks will know the details and she is going to ask. When I go back, I will probably find out more.
I found these daffodils when I came in today. Three days ago, I had only the one bloom. My daffodils always bloom really early because they are right up against the hill.
It is nice, about 65 degrees, but the wind is really blowing. It looks like it is going to blow up a rain. It rained some last night. I checked several of my windows this morning before I went to work and they were dry, dry, dry. It is a good feel for the rain to stay outside. KY 3 says rain tomorrow.
It is 5 pm and George is not home again. It is probably redoing all the things he turned down today.

Spring Tonic
Elm Bud Tea.
It was 72 degrees yesterday, but only in the low 60's today. It looks like rain now. Still, I think it is spring.
George is happy. He gets to work in Carroll Co. tomorrow. Today he went to Lead Hill. Right now he has gone to get his tractor. It had been at the dealer since last Monday getting warranty service. He had not had time to go get it. I don't think he is going to have time to use it. Today was not quite as long a day for him. He left about 8:30 and got back at 5.
I am going to fix fish for supper. I thought I would back them, but maybe I will just fry them. They are those frozen Tapalia from Wally World. They work out well for us because they are frozen in individual fillet pieces and I can just take out exactly the number we need. Sometimes it is hard to cook for only two people. It is easier if it is just one person, cause then, I just eat a can of soup or have a sandwich. Or maybe just cracker and milk. Sometimes it is not much fun cooking for two, but cooking for one mostly is not cooking at all, at my house.

Signs of Spring
Lane says I need to make more frequent Blog posts. He says he and Dad check to see what is going on and I leave the same post up for many days. This is what he and sister were doing today.
I moved my two butterfly bushes from in front of the deck to out in the yard. One is by one of the bird houses and one is by the old plum tree stump. I also cleaned some of the dead plant debris from the beds and threw it out in the yard.

George is working the census again today. He had to go over by rock crusher hill, then go out by Rule and redo the area he failed yesterday, then go to Lead Hill. He did not get home last night till after 6:30. Today, it may be even later. I hardly know what to do without him here to tell me. When he gets around to mowing the yard the first time, he will probably throw the things I threw in the yard back in the beds.
