Cemetery Name

We worked on the cemetery for about 6 hours today.  It is really looking so much better.  You can see all the way across it now.

While we were there, Dan came up on his 4 wheeler.  He said that Eva Bell called this cemetery Black Oak Cemetery.  This tree is huge.  I wonder if it is a black oak.  I am sure it was here in the 1860's and 1870's when the first burials were made here.  Dan said Eva Bell told him there was once an schooll on the hill in the background here.  She said the school house was moved with a team of horses over to where the Callen cemetery is.  Watson Leather's father taught school in this building.

The Morris house and barn is about a quarter mile from the cemetery.

If we can get out of bed tomorrow, we are going back for more.

Our Deer and autoplay

Over across the hill grazing by Callens Branch  past the along Old Stone place.  They were in the field across from that house Patsy lived in back in the sixties.  There was about 10 in the group.  We know it is our deer because one of them has an injured front leg and she was in the group.  They just stood and watched us for several minutes then took off.

I have been having trouble with my autoplay on my laptop.  You know, you plug in a flash drive, a camera or in my case my card reader and a window pops up asking what you want to do.  That is autoplay.  It quit on me a month or two ago and I searched the net for a fix.  I finally found the solution and got it working again.  Well, last week it went AWOL again.  I could not remember what the fix was.  I finally spent about an hour searching tonight and found the fix.  I saved it in a word file, but here it is in case I need it again.

FIX AUTOPLAY
Let's check if the service "Shell Hardware Detection" is running properly.
1. Type "services.msc" in the start search box, click on OK.
2. When the Services window loads, navigate to the "Shell Hardware Detection" service, the double click on it to open it.
3. Make sure the "Startup Type" says "Automatic". If it doesn't, use the drop down menu to change it.

Now, if I need this again I can search my blog for autoplay.

We have finally gotten some nice weather this evening.  Tomorrow is supposed to be really nice, so I am planing on autoplaying clearing on the cemetery.

We went to Lowes today and order a new front door with a glass 'window'.  I have been wanting a new door but being a mobile home the door is not standard size.  I have seen custom mobile home doors on the net but they are very expensive and then you have to pay shipping.  This is a plain steel door with a glass insert and it was only $300.  That is not bad for a custom door.

Off to get rested now so we can work tomorrow.

Poor stuff

Mary Poor was Dillard's Grandmother.  L. V. Poor was Lewis Poor, Dillard's father, note added for Lazy Betty on the Mountain.

I went to the Court House today looking for land records of dead people.  I found this Poor record, Mary Poor to L. V. Poor in 1910.  It is for the NW 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of Section 15, Twp 21 N, Range 22 West.  This is over at the edge of Carroll Co. up by the Missouri Line.  You can see Section 15 here
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~arcchs/maps/21N22W.html

And here,  Mary Poor is selling land to a Blevins for $150.

I was looking for Raines records, which I found, but just happened upon these Poor things.

The picture yesterday was of a mountain switchback road taken on time exposure at night.  I found it a National Geographic.  Sometimes I like to just go to Nat Geo and look at their photos. They have the most beautiful photos and I really love good photography.  If you go here
http://blog.angolaimagebank.com/
You can see many pictures of Angola.  I enjoyed seeing photos of their primitive ways.    More Poor things, so to speak.

Babies went home...

We took the babies home this morning.  They had been here since Tuesday, March 22nd,  afternoon.  That is over 5 days.  I think that is the longest they have stayed with us at one time except that Robert stayed a week when Sister was in the hospital.  Papa was ready for a rest.

George has been feeling under the weather, a sore throat and the chills.  He is better today.  I made him chicken and dumplings.

Weather has been cold and rainy for 2 days.  I guess we got hail Saturday morning.  I did not get up and look out.  It sounded like it might have been hail, but it could have been just hard rain.  Everyone else all around us got hail.  I guess they all got up and looked.  I turned over and went back to sleep.

Tomorrow it is back to the grind.  I took both Wednesday and Friday off last week.  Will have to go every day this week.

We have had too many kids and too much cold to get back to the cemetery cleaning.  Maybe by Wednesday or Thursday we can get back to work there.

Betty says she is not going to worry about nukes.  Worrying does no good.  Patsy says our government lies and ducks responsibility like many others.  I agree.
