A hunting we go

Down on the Buffalo.

We left early,

before sunup.

Ponca and Boxley Valley were fogged in.

Heading down into Ponca.

The fog made the first photos look foggy.

But, then, we got a few rays and it brightened up a little.

We saw 5 or 6 big bulls and lots of cows and calves.  The fall rut is just starting.

Around 10 or 10:30 we started back towards home.  The fog had still not lifted from the valleys, but at the top of mountain, the sun was shinning.

Camel day

is almost over.

We are seeing a few deer almost every day now.  We have at least 3 fawns, we think and 3 does.  The grass is so tall out in the field that we can't see them very well when they get very far from the fence area.

Kids are doing better in school and Robert is learning some words.  I went to the library today and got some books for bedtime. I got one for Robert called That is not a good idea because he tells me that sometimes.

Not much happening at work.  Still no new boss and old boss is showing less and less interest in bossing us.  Works for me.

We are floored!

George, with a little help from me and Helen, finished the last 6 feet of flooring by the back door.  Finally, we have new flooring from the back of the house all the way through my bedroom.  George said it has been about a year since he started the flooring.  I don't know if he was joking or if he really thought it had been one year.  I told him more like two years, but I was wrong.  We bought new flooring for all the house from the back bedroom to the edge of our bedroom in February 2010.  Over 3 and a half years ago.  But it is done now, and it looks beautiful.

Helen took this picture today of our one remaining Billy goat.  George, Clayton and Helen made weathers of the other 3 billies last week.  They seem to be doing fine.  I don't think we will sell any of them now.  They are really working on brush on the hill behind the house.  We just let them run loose now and they do not bother anything.

The girl took Grandma down to the graveyard Sunday to see about the weeds.  It did not look too bad, but I do need to go back with the weed wacker before fall.  Girl was bored waiting for me.

Summer is almost gone.

Sunday

We had a good day today.  Hannah wanted to go back to SDC today, but Daddy said not just yet.  I got the sons washing done yesterday, so today, all I really had to do was cook supper.  George grilled steak and I made yeast rolls and cinnamon rolls.  I cooked potato wedges in a non stick skillet instead of baking potatoes to go with the steak. They came out really good.  Then I made uncooked tomato soup that no one but me would eat.  Still, it was very good.  Of course, the best was George's steak.

Sister has been working on her living space all day.  It is looking much better, with a space for a twin bed and space to hang all her clothes.  I didn't think there was room for everything, but it is shaping up.  They have the site about ready to move it.  The electricity and water line are done.  Now they need to fix the sewer.   Maybe next weekend they will work on the sewer.

Tomorrow back to work and back to school.

I think fall has arrived.
