I walked to Dan's gate and back early.

Then I worked on repotting plants and starting some cuttings. Last year I gave plants to our work group. They were a hit, so I am doing a repeat.

I have been having trouble with my dish network satellite.  It mostly has not worked right for over a month. So, instead of satellite I had dish streaming. And, I can't stream the local channels. I decided to try to reset the satellite today. I got it working right in the bedrooms, but the main TV in the living room would not work at all. Greg got it to working again. So far so good.

Then my watch quit getting notifications from my phone last week. I opened the watch app and got it to work again. I am sure I had accidentally touched something on the watch. Anyway now watch and satellite are working the way I want. Hopefully things will be fine

Much cooler

 It is 82 here now and just a little warmer than that yesterday. I am loving it.

Bought a coffee cup at the thrift store today. It has John 10:10 on it.

I think I will take it to work as long with my pumpkin coaster.

James G. Maples homestead record recorded 3 Aug 1882 as Certifiate 3376, application 2751 is described as South fractional half of North East fractional quarter Section 1, Township 18, Range 23 containing 77.44 acres. James G. Maples land marked with blue arrow.  

On September 22 1863, A. B. Maples sold to James G. Maples 37.44 acres described as the South East fractional quarter of the South East fractional quarter of Section 1 Twp 18 range 23 containing 37.44 acres for $420.  On August 17 1870 James G. Maples sold this same 37.44 acres to Nathan Briles for $175. Nathan Briles daughter Martha married Jessie Tom Maples, son of J. G. Maples. The Nathan Briles land is marked in red above as is the Bobo Cemeterey.  If you click on the image to enlarge it, all this is much clearer. 

Bobo Cemetery is located at the Junction of County Road 905 and 920 in Carroll County.  It is just to the North of 920 and to the East of 905 in a field.  Bobo Creek runs just a few yards south of County Road 920 from Carrollton to about 1.5 miles past the junction of 905 and 920.  So, now you know.

Sometime after I graduated high school in 1965 and when she died in 1972, I took Grandma Gertrude Maples Powell up Bobo Mountain to the place her grandfather James Gunter Maples homesteaded land via the 1862 homestead act.  I have land records of that land describing it as the South fractional half of the North East fractional quarter of Section 1, Township 18, Range 23 West.

Alittle rain, a lot cooler

 

I walked at dawn this morning. It sprinkled on me a little, but I persisted and did not melt.

It was much cooler today. I sat in the swing in comfort.

I transplanted my silver falls plant into a smaller pot hoping to make a house plant of it this winter. Not sure it will make it. There was very little root left after I got it out of the big pot. Worth a try anyway. 

And repotted the creeping Jennie. Got more root with this. We will see.

Back to work tomorrow. Our 4 day weeks are over. Two lines even ran Saturday. I am only working 4 hours on Fridays from now on. And, I am no working Saturdays at all. So there.

Christmas Plants

 I am preparing plants to give to the people in our group at work. I need about 15 plants. I have been buying dishes and other things to use as pots for the plants. Here is some of what I have so far.

I am starting a spider plant in this. The pot was 75 cents, plate $1.50 @ dollar tree.

A $ Tree cup with a yellow purslane plus honey bee stuff. I started the purslane last week from a cutting. It already has a yellow bloom.

Some more starting. I need extra because not all will thrive.

This is some succulent cuttings in a vase I have had for a long time. This one i am going to keep. It will have to stay as a house plant. The vase is not something I would want to put outside.

The year of potted plants

 

I love new plants, but since I do not take care of the yard anymore I am not planting any more yard plants. I bought a lot of potted plants for my new porch. My very favorite is the succulent container in the back here. It has over a dozen different succulents. The black pot in front with the purple purslane had to be repoted today because the it's pot blew over and broke last night. 

Every year I give small presents to the dozen or so people in my group at work. This year I am giving plants again. Today I potted some cuttings from my collection. 

I will have to have several extra started cause sometimes they do not do well. And, sometimes I decide I don't want to part with them.

Woohoo, 3 days off

 My little birds flew away a couple of days ago and I did not even get to see them leave.

No work til Tuesday. I only worked 4 hours today. They are going back to working Friday each week, but I am only working my 40 hours from now on. That means 4 hours on Friday. Nine o'clock is when I hit 40 hours each week, so plenty of time to do something or nothing.

Today I went to Branson and got this rug for my bathroom.

Plus this one for in front of the front door.  Got them at Ross's. Only other money spent was fir lunch at Wendy's.  Then came home and took a nap.

This is hummingbird mint. I think I will try to find some for this pot again next year.

They  will likely fledge this weekend. If not, sometime early in the week.

Birds, plants and one little frog

This is thee lantana I am taking to Betty. I am going Friday September 18. 

I cleaned up my glass table I keep plants on. Found this little green frog.

I put him in with the succulent plants in the middle here.

Washed my shoes in the machine with towels. The pink shoes came out looking almost like new and dried completely in a couple of hours. Also, yesterday I washed Helen's braided rug in the machine. It came out looking much better. I am trying to decide if this is one she made or one she brought.

Mama is in all these images, either on the metal support or at the edge of the nest. Dad was there some also, because I saw two parents at once a few times. Mama carries the heavy load though.
