What do you see?

Figures, Numbers, Votes, or People?

A few days back, Sister Bet asked if I would figure how far a line of 5 million people would reach if lined up hand to hand.  She supplied a figure of 5 feet for each person.  If you line up people 5 feet apart you will find 1056 people per mile [5280 feet per mile divided by 5 feet per person].  At the time she proposed this question, Biden led Trump by 5 million total votes.  Now, I see the spread is 6 million numbers, votes or people.

So, go figure.  6,000,000 people divided by 1056 people per mile gives 5681 miles of people. Goggle says it is 2800 miles across the USA from coast to coast.  Guess what, 2800 times 2 equals 5600.  So, the 6,000,000 figures, numbers, votes, or people standing side by side would reach coast to coast twice.

The 80,000,000 votes, people for Biden lined up side by side would reach across the country 27 times. The 74,000,000 votes, people for Trump lined up side by side would reach across the country 25 times.

So, what is the problem? The problem is in what you see.  Do you see numbers? Votes? Figures? or People. Elections are supposed to be about people making choices. Now, we can each make another choice. Figures, numbers, votes, or people? Or, we can choose, as many have, to turn our backs on the people and see something visible only in our imagination.

Well, just trying ti visualize that line going across America twice let’s you see how many more voted for Biden. It’s amazing.
