For Helen

I have tracked down the Peter Powell relatives in Canada.  They are of the Peter Powell line through his son Brazillia Powell.  Barzilla had a son name Thomas Monroe Powell in Macon Co. MO.  Monroe Powell had a son named Edgar Richard Powell as shown on the 1870 and 1880 federal census.  Monroe also has a death certificate in MO naming Barzilla as his father. E. R. married first Martha Blankenship in 1889 and Martha Brockman in 1894 in Macon Co.  I guess the first Martha died, but Edgar and Martha 2 must have divorced.  I found a family genealogy web file at Ancestry that says Edgar and Martha the first had a son named King James and he and Martha 2 had a daughter named Saphrona Elizabeth Powell.  In 1900 both children are with Martha Powell in ND, with no Edgar.  Later, Edgar is said to have fathered 2 sons with another woman in ND before moving to Canada around 1910/11.  Edgar married Ethel and had several children in Canada.  There is a tree here

for Edgar and Ethel.

Edgar can be found on the 1911 and 1916 Canadian census records and on Edmonton, Alberta, Canada homestead records, or whatever those records were in Canada.  Homestead is probably not the word they used in Canada.  Edgar died in Alberta Canada in 1959.

I was quite interested in the King James Powell.  He is on the 1930 census in San Diego, California with a wife named Maggie.  His occupation is Deputy Sheriff.  I searched google books and found his name in a book about a disturbance with Indians.  Helen can find it here

I am sure she will want to read the entire book.  I just wish we could have found the time to talk about all this when she called.
