I received an from a descendant of Peter Powell, Sr. (Caswell Co. NC) that says they feel that this Peter Powell is a son of John Powell and Margaret Macdaniel. I am skeptical of that as Peter was born in 1779 and Margaret started having children in 1752 which would make her a bit old to be having children in 1779. Anyway, you can read about Peter Powell here

They have a lot of documents from this family including letters from Peter's sons in Missouri sent back to other sons and family in Caswell Co. NC that are online here

It is interesting that they are related to a Robert Lyon and we thought that John might have had a daughter that married a Lyon.
Patsy wanted to know where the person that sent the message lived which I did not know, but I do now. His name is Elvin Myers and if you scroll to the bottom of the page for that first link, it tells where he lives.
I have written back to him offering to pay for a DNA test of his line if they have a living Powell that traces back to Peter to test.
Stay tuned.
Family is haying today. Pictures to follow.

Looks like Peter's mother could have married Charles Powel or another son of John. This Peter had a brother Charles. Peter's father died and then she married Robert Lyon. John and Margaret would be his grandparents. We have the tale that Margaret wss stolen from Ireland. She was lured to the ship to dance and they trapped her a sailed away.
I went over to Galla Creek Lane and got some of my files. Will Lyon was one house from John Powell in 1784. I think Will was Robert's father. We thought one girl may have married a Lyon...or Lyons were connected.
One married a Smith
One a Seals
One a McClain
We had boys names as Charles, John and James. There were 10 heirs.
