I knew that Cocoa came from Mr. Hopper...was this his first day at our house? Gilbert is really young...
Notice Daddy has on shoes but no socks and is so skinny.

No it was not his 1st day...Cocoa was much smaller at 1st...the 1st summer we had him Clayton rode him to Morris to bail hay...he tied him to the fence with his bridal on a down hill slant...the road by the barn...cocoa jumped over that fence tied to it to get with that Palamo horse they had and remember Morris had good fences...Clayton could stand flat footed and cocoa could walk clear under neath him....when this picture was taken we had had him for awhile...

I think we got Cocoa when I was in 4th grade but it may have been 5th...Beverlyn Hopper was a little older than me and she was in 6th grade...I remember because I was a little hateful and always knew she got jipped out of such a good horse....reminds me of that episode of 'Little house on the Prarie' where nelly gets laura's horse...

daddy let my boys have cocoa and he served them well. dillard traded him off and i felt like he had traded off one of the family.
a few years later we were driving on the highway down by lead hill and i saw him in this big feild. i knew it was cocoa because of the white marking on his shoulder. i watched him until he was out of my sight.
