This week in review

George said his lawnmower fall down and would not get up so he bought a new one. After he mowed the yard with the new mower, the old mower got up and moved out behind the shop. I think George just wanted a new mower.

When we went to Wal Mart to get the mower last Wednesday, that had these water fountains on sale for $45. I had been wanting one for a couple of years, but thought they might not be worth the $100 or more they cost. We liked this one so much...

I went back and got this one also. I like the first one better because you can hear the water. It sounds like a creek running. The babies liked them also.

All smiles.

Lunch in the fresh air. You can see my red and white petunias in the background.

Big Party Week End

Planted tomatoes and peppers. And, another whole row of flower seeds.

Apples are blooming.

George and Frank go the machine to work and made pretty hills all in a row.

Finished the end tables.

Got the subfloor down in the kitchen and every thing back to the back door painted pretty, clean White.

Now I am very, very tired.

Next, I am going to clean Grandma's rocker. I put it in the living room while we painted the kitchen and it looked so good I think I will clean it up and keep it in the living room.

George

got mad yesterday and threw all the kitchen cabinets out in the yard. I still have a sink and this makeshift piece of a bar. It works fairly well as a small kitchen. And, I have an excuse to not cook. But, tonight I made beans with poke that I got from Clayton's freezer.
That is my refinished end tables in the middle of the floor. They look much better. I still have to put another clear coat on them. George put the broken door on the one back together for me so I did not have to take it to Greg Jones.

I got about 16 to 20 tomato plants and 8 green pepper plants from the Germans. I will not plant them until at least the week end, but I thought they needed to set outside the green house for a while before I put them in the garden. They look much better than walmart plants.

The way we are...

Helen sez we should post pictures of ourselves because, maybe, people who do not know us do not have a true picture of how we are.

Above is a good picture of my sister Betty.

And this is me.
Now you know...

Happy Easter

Beautiful, beautiful day. It was above 80 today. Spent yesterday taking the finish off the oak end tables that Gary made for me almost 25 years ago. Today I put a new stain on them and tomorrow will finish them with poly stuff.

We worked in the yard the rest of the day.

Helen, how did the cheese cake turn out? Helen called this am about her cheese cake. It was not setting up. I asked why are you calling me? I use the 89 cent in a box always save from walmart. I told her to try adding instand pudding and see if it would set up. Next time, buy it in the box. They are just as good and a lot less trouble.

Patsy, my apple trees are not blooming. Shouldn't they have bloomed by now if they are going to bloom this year?

I am making an Angel Food cake. Betty Crocker in a box. Not from scratch. Helen said if I just made one from scratch, I would not be buying the box again. Helen is wrong.

Census Surprise!

Today we bought a new double reclining leather sofa and matching gliding recliner love seat at Ashley Furniture in Springfield. I can't take a picture because we had to order it. They say it will take three to four weeks. I am planing on George painting the kitchen before we get it. The only trouble is, we have to remove the cabinets before we can paint.

This is a picture from Ashley's website. It looks almost brown, but surprise! It is Burgundy! The called it Burgundy Revolution, but if you google this, most of the pictures are brown. The one I got is definitely not brown. In the right light, it has a wine colored cast. I wanted leather, but George found the one he wanted in a brown tweed material. I really, really wanted leather and this was the only one we could agree on. I think I will really like it. If not too bad. It is already bought and paid for.

I have made fun of Betty for buying purple shoes, but I don't think she ever bought a purple sofa.

And it is raining on my new plantings. We have almost a half inch and it is still coming down. It is supposed to clear up and warm up tomorrow, but for now, the rain looks good.
