Happy Birthday Sister Helen

Some flowers for you from Patsy's shrubs in my yard. The one on the left has a dark center and lavender double petals. The one on the right has more petals and is a darker purple, pink color. They are the only two blooming so far. I have about 5 more. They are probably all like one of these.

We went to the creek Sunday evening and got stuff for my new parking area.

We drove by Floyd's old barn.

George got red dirt from the bond bank.

Piled it here at the end of the house, and then we put the stuff we got from the creek on top.

Here he is unloading the unmentionable stuff from the creek.

We have parked by the back door for years. I told him if he would make this into a parking area, I would start parking here by the end of the trailer instead of by the back door, except when stuff is falling on my head in winter.

Son is going to be so excited...

The girl found a box turtle and wanted a home for it. I had this old aquarium and we have fixed it up for her to take home. The wonderful turtle is under the grass. She has had a pet turtle before, but it was in a small box so it escaped. This turtle will not escape his new home. I think we will name him Present.

Kids

Emmy gets to be the big girl and drive the little ones around.

First we get in.

Then we go around behind and pull the cord to start the engine.

Go around and get in.

Then off we go.

After all these big steps, the little girl thinks she is the big girl. Both girls had lots of fun. For Hannah it is just Emmy this and Emmy. Emmy is so good at taking care of both kids, but the two girls really get on well.

The boy gets his turn.

And he rides with Grandpa, cutting a path through the pasture so Emmy has more space to ride the cart.
The boy is going to school every day, riding the bus, really enjoying it and doing very well. The girl was tested and scored so well she does not get to go until she is 3 in December. When she does get to go to school, big brother will be there on the bus and at school to show her the ropes and take care of her.

Redecorating

This is a big rock I had George bring down off the hill into my yard this spring. I had it over by the maple tree, but I decided I wanted it here by the steps to keep the dogs from running through here to get under the deck. I meant for him to lay it down here, but this is the way it fell and this is the way we left it. He says I better be happy because he is not moving it again.

Now he is out there spreading red clay around the yard to fill in low places where we drive and where the water has washed dips in the yard. This week end he had better be hauling gravel to cover the red stuff before he starts tracking it into the house.

School Boy

Our big boy starts to school full time Monday. Grandma is really excited about this. Just going twice a week has really helped him. He will get to ride the bus and everything. Grandma bought him a new outfit to wear the first day. His sister will not go right now, but maybe later she will. They are both here right now and still fast asleep. This afternoon I will take them back home so Robert can get a haircut. He is going to look so handsome Monday morning. All the other grandmothers will be jealous.

Perspective

This is my home viewed from the road down by the mail box that can be seen in the header.

This is a satellite image of my home from Google maps. A very different perspective.

Sometimes I get really tired of my job. It is not hard, but sometimes things at work wear on my nerves, but, mostly it is just very boring and tiresome, at least to me. Once in a while, we get some new project that I have to work on. Most everyone else hates when that happens and we have to change the way we do things, but I enjoy trying to figure out what I feel is the best way to go about my part of the new project. That is as long as it is not data entry (as in spending hours and hours entering numbers in a computer). I do try to remember what it was like to actually work out on the production line. There are worse things than boring when it comes to work like wondering how you are going to make it through another day. Some of the jobs on the line sent you home at night aching all over. I know that having an easy job where I am employed is an anomaly.

One thing I have always found very tiresome at work is shredding old paperwork. It seems the most boring and useless task I can thing of. I have my own special way of shredding paperwork that is not nearly so tiresome, but I can't tell you because it is a secret. Today, someone was in our office shredding paperwork. I was talking to her and said how I thought shredding was one of the worst jobs we had. She did not agree. She was grateful just to have a job where she could leave and go to the restroom whenever she needed too without asking for permission to leave. I did not ask her if she gets to eat her lunch before her lunch hour and then go out to her truck during her one hour lunch period and take a nap. I did not ask her if she had ever decided to go to Berryville at one hour before her lunch time started and then ran out of gas, got a ride to the station to get gas, being gone from work over two hours and never even missed. I am thinking those things do not occur at her duty station if she was grateful just for the privilege of going to the restroom without asking permission. Her perspective was from the ground floor and mine is from far, far above.
