It has snowed every day this year. May the sun shine today.

Another snowy day..

 Today, just after 7:30 I walked up on the hill on the trail that George cut years ago so he could cut wood up there.  It was about 32 degrees, but I stayed warm.  I thought I might see some deer, but no luck.  I came down the back side by son's house.  Then, just now at 1, I walked out to Dan's and back.  It is snowing hard right now.  Don't know if we will get coverage or now. My thermometer says 34 right now, and nothing is sticking on the ground.

I made vegetable soup.  Then, I made black eyed peas in Sister's instant pot.  The pot comes in handy sometimes, when sister is not here to cook for us.  The black eyed peas are delicious.

The above pics are from this morning's walk.  Below was at 1 pm.  Snowing hard then.  An hour later, it has let up some but we are still getting light snow.  Not sticking on the roads yet.  Good thing tomorrow is Sunday so no need to get out on slick roads.

Icy Start...

 We had ice on the trees this morning. Roads were just wet, but the trees and bushes were covered in ice at 7 am.  I bundled up, put my boots on and went for a walk at 7.  I went over to the cemetery on the hill, thinking I would get a pic of the ice on the hills. No, the trees over there had no ice.  Still, coming back, our Rock Quarry trees were still covered in ice.  

I drove down to Harrison for groceries and there was still ice on many of the higher elevations at noon.

Maybe Helen can look at these photos and not feel homesick.

What if?

 

A Dark Day.

What if out of your country's entire population only 530 individuals, 404 men and 126 women, were allowed to cast votes in the presidential election? That is exactly what some of your country's government representatives are advocating. There are currently 530 US Members of Congress.  If that Congress can vote to overturn the results of your election, those 530 votes are all that counts.  In this election 155 million individuals cast votes,  155 million cast votes whittled down to 530 counted votes. Does that sound like government of the people, by the people, for the people? 

Cold Weather Gear...

 
I got some new cold weather gear for walking.  Sone JR gave me a really warm jacket.  It is made by Dewalt and has a warmer with a battery.  [I have let the batter run down, so I did not use it today, but the coat is really, really warm and I did not need the battery.  I love the coat, but am not so sure about the batter and warmer.] Then I have my toboggan, gloves, neck warmer and the mask. I could not ware the mask over my nose, as it is too thick to breath through, but I did wear it on my chin which helped keep the toboggan pulled down. The gloves were soft and warm and the neck warmer worked great. The boots are ones I bought yesterday.  They are Sketcher boots.  I did not know Sketcher made boots.  They are lined, very warm, and comfortable to walk in.

I started out at 7:30 when it was 32 degrees.  I stay nice and warm all the way.  This is the meek hill with gray dog in the background.

I went on over to where the hill starts down to Snow's house. If you enlarge the pic below, you can see Helen's house on the hill in the distance.

It was 32 degrees still when I got back home at 9.  My watch said I had went almost 4 miles.  I know it is 1 1/2 miles to Eva Bell's house, so I am thinking more like 3 miles.

 

After Christmas

 

I am always glad when Christmas week end is over.  I know so many love Christmas, but I feel Christmas for little children is magical but for adults not so much.  Expectations are often miles higher than reality.  This was a reality photo of our sunrise today.  Going to be another beautiful day.

Yesterday, I connected my phone to my big computer so I would have access to my phone photos.  I usually connect the phone to computer via usb port, but wifi is easier.  I just wonder if I delete photos from my phone, will they be deleted from my puter.  I will test that out later.

Hannah opening her Christmas Chromebook.  I got them both Chromebooks they can use for school work and play.  Their school uses chromebooks in their classwork. They are less expensive than windows computers, so I got them each one.

And these are the boots his Dad got him.  I told him he could take mine back and get whatever he wanted, but he wanted to keep both pair.  They are both good Ariat boots.

Today I am taking them to Branson to spend their Christmas money.
