South Side of the Dan
That's where I am tonight, with Charles and Sarah, one thousand and eighty miles from where I started on January first.
Not much going on here. Yesterday was a beautiful day, but today was damp and gloomy. We are supposed to get heavy rain for the next two days.
I am enjoying having a camera that actually works every time instead of just now and then. Yesterday was the first day of modern gun season. I saw several deer on my walk yesterday and today. Yesterday I started out just at sunrise, but today I was topping out on Meek just as the sun was peeking over the horizon. And that is about all it did, peek and go back behind the clouds.
Helen, how do you like my picture of the church?

Hair, camera, wallking and math
I got my hair cut Thursday. I like to use the blog as a reminder of things I am likely to forget as in when I got my last permanent. This was my first trim since the perm. That would right before the Alpena reunion, or the week of Sept 19,which I did not note anywhere. Probably because I have taken up Helen's habit of posting once every other month. I have been busy.
I got a new camera for Christmas. My little super zoom camera has been acting up. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. I bought a backup battery and it helps to put a fresh battery in it each day, but still sometimes it refuses to recognize the SD card. The problem is with the camera, not the card of battery. I have thought if I could clean the connections in the camera it might help, but they are really difficult to reach. I am giving the old camera to Hannah for her birthday. She will love it. It will be a good starter camera for a little girl. She is good with a camera.
And good with math. Her class is learn the times tables. She was the ONLY one in her class to make 100% on the third week times tables. We have been practicing with my stop watch I use for walking. I am getting her a new stop watch of her own for her birthday also. She is so much into birthdays, I really need to think of something good for that day. Anyway, as a reward for the math, she wanted a cheese cake. I got two cheese cake mixes and we are taking them to Church Wednesday night. She likes taking food on Wednesday's.
The Church Christmas play in underway. The little kids, my kids, are going to do the nativity scene and not have to be in the actual play and neither do I. I am pleased at that outcome. They will get to sing Christmas Songs. Much easier than a long play. Hannah is an angle and has to say a Bible verse. She wanted a speaking part. Robert is a shepherd.
I have walked 1058 miles this year. I may be to South Boston by now. Have not checked how far into VA that takes me.
Pics from new camera. It is Canon SX60, and newer version of the SX50 I had.

Fall is here
I am trying posting from my phone. I have done this before but forgot it works.
I made Hannah cape and it looked fine to her. Tonight is church night. Last night was scouts. They halloween. Hannah won a lot of candy at a guessing game.
Robert was sad that he did not win. Hannah said we both won because we share. She is growing up.

The last hooray
Flowers at the neighbors. We have not had a killing frost as yet, but should be soon.
And the last tomato. There are a couple of green ones yet, but I doubt they will ripen.
Today is crazy hair day, so I am going in late so I can fix Hannah's hair. We have colored spray and I am going to put it in crazy pig tales at odd places. Robert will get only colored spray. Yesterday was crazy hat day. We found Hannah a hat at Helen's, Robert wore his Jeff Gordon hat. He does not get in to what eveyone else is doing and just does his own thing.
I sure wish Helen was here. I bought Hannah a mask for Halloween and she wants a purple cape to go with it. Today, I am going to look for purple material to make a cape. If sister was here, I would just hand that chore off to her.
They got a box from Washington yesterday. Lots of clothes and shoes for Hannah. The shoes are too big for now, but we will save them. Robert got truck books and he loved them.
Time for pancakes.
