Good start

to the week.  It was over 70 yesterday  and supposed to be again today.  Spring is here.

Yesterday, after Church, we took the kids to a little drive through zoo at Eagle Rock.  The had lots of fun, but next time we will just go to the real zoo at Springdale.  This was recommended by a friend, and after going there, I think the real attraction here for many people is the drive don't walk part.  Just the same, the kids liked it.  But, just as we left, Hannah asked to go to a real zoo next time.  

We also stopped off at Enon on the way home.  I took a picnic lunch, but by the time we got to Enon at past 4, George had eaten his sandwiches and the kids had filled up on junk food. Still, they really enjoyed playing at the edge of the lake.  They want to go back and fish someday.

I walked 2 miles Sunday morning and 4 after we got home.  I am now at the 250 mile mark.  That should puts me about 50 miles from St. Louis.  

Big Week

Tuesday, I walked to the Coin Bridge and it looked like this, about 6.5 miles round trip.

Wednesday, was a beautiful day in the 60's. I walked in short sleeves with a jacket on my waist, just in case.  I went here to the Y just past Pedens, turned down towards Mathas' and just kept going.

Calen's Branch at the bottom of the red dirt hill, going up to the red barn.  It was a little over 7.5 miles round trip.  My feet hurt at Church that night.

And, Thursday, I got my hair kinked.  Friday I went to Harrison and got groceries, and ordeal.  Yesterday, I took the kids to the library to get books and a movie.  Robert got 2 documentaries about the Titanic.

Today is Church day.  Greg is working today, so he won't be home, but next weekend, he is supposed to have a 2 day weekend.  

I have reached my 25 mile weekly goal this month and I am at mile 244 for the year.  I need to make up 6 miles for my 100 miles a month goal, but it is supposed to rain latter in the week, so I may not make that this week.  I may go for a walk in a bit, and since Grandpa is going to Church with us, I may walk home from Church.  We will see.

We will be asking for special prayers for Winnie again today. Godspeed.

There is also world weather, if she wants to know what the weather is elsewhere.  Of course, she did not even know the time where she was, so I guess elsewhere is a lost cause.

We want to wish Cuz Winnie Godspeed with her medical tests.  We will be praying for you, and Helen has asked me to put in a special prayer request with our Little Coin Church tonight.

Yesterday, I walked 6 miles to the Coin bridge.  Dry Creek is rolling.  I am glad weather is improving, but spring rains are coming.

I did make 5 miles yesterday, 224 for the year.

I downloaded some books and I am reading the Jerry Lee Lewis book by Bragg.  I am really enjoying it, but really only because I love Rick Bragg's writing.  His books are like poetry.  I do not need to like a person to like a book about them.  I knew that he was a cousin to Jimmy Swagart, but did not know Mickey Gilley was also his cousin.  And I did not know they grew up so close in a very close knit family.  I have others to read when I get this one read.

Robert is also reading books  He has advanced a lot in his reading just since the first of the year.  We are reading books every night now, and they are sending little copies home for him to read almost every day.  It is just wonderful to hear him start to sound out words.

When we are reading at night, sometimes Hannah has to help me pronounce the words.  I took them to the library Saturday and they each have their own library card now.

I have found a new children's book help at our library called tumblebooks.  You have to have a library login, but then it has read along books, where the computer or tablet reads the words.  I am going to try it with the kids tonight.  If you have K-3 children and your library has it, you should try it.  Helen, you could try it with your Green Forest library card.  You do have to go to the Green Forest page, not just the main library page.  I know Hannah is going to really like this, and maybe Robert too.

We went to Turpentine Creek Rescue yesterday, just me and the kids.  They  had a great time.  I let Hannah carry the camera.  She had a great time taking pictures.  She was a little disappointed  when she looked at them on the computer saying some of these are not very good pictures.  The bars really get in the way of the camera.  I cropped most of these to show her how truly great they actually look.
