Back to the grind

It was back to work today. I really hated to go back this time, but it was not so bad. My knee did not bother me too much. The swelling has gone down a lot. And, my boss is on vacation this week so I just get to do whatever I want.

Helen called last night. She was enjoying her time with Rhea.

The hay boys got the hay all cut and the last of it baled today. It made a lot of hay. George thought it was great fun.

Clayton's Pets

Clayton said these are his wild turkeys in the tree in his field. He said he had about 40 of them.

And he has 13 little turkeys in the brooder.

And he has a pet snake under his house. He is a rich man.

Ther rest of the story

This is me and some stranger with mad cow decease that I met on a hill a couple of days ago.

And the rest of the story for Betty Jean. The bonnet and dress are for Kenzie to wear to pioneer days at school. The red headed grandgirl has not really fallen to wearing my garage sale handmedowns from Aunt Fleta.

This is the Powell homestead taken for the top of Morris Hill. Click to enlarge.

This is the four stooges. We had a great time at Patsy's. Winnie and Mike are just a crazy as the rest of us. You can't tell them from the rest of the hillbillies down here.

This is brother Gilbert and his Possum Dog. He got kicked out of the coon hunt last Saturday because she is such a good possum dog.

This is some crazy stuffed animal that Gilbert bought at a flea market somewhere and brought in here telling us his possum dog treed it then he paid $120 to have it stuffed like this. It does not even have a tail. It is certainly not a coon, but does not even look like a good possum. I think brother Gilbert makes up taller tales than any one else in the family.

For Kenzie Girl

This is the bonnet. Click on it to make it larger and you can see better. The flowers are purple with a tiny bit of orange and lots of green with an off white background.

It is in the mail and guaranteed to be there in 3 days.

Then, I thought, I have this old timey dress. It is gauze like material with a bodice that laces up with a string and a very full 2 layer skirt with tie strings in the back. I think with a little work you could get it to fit Kenzie. Your mother says you can soak it in tea to dye it a muslin color. If you want it we can send it today. It only costs $5 to mail it in 3 days (well, they may not count today since it is afternoon, but you would still get it by Saturday. You can not begin to make anything for less than $5. Call me if you want the dress also.

And I bought the dress for $1 at a junk sale years ago so I have already gotten my money's worth out of it.

The old and the new

The gang. I did not try to take portrait photos because I knew I could get good ones from Erin. I have already downloaded all the ones she posted and the ones Betty linked to.

More gang.

All old people.

The babies. Clayton, just like his name sake, is looking for something to eat.

and a new potato from my garden. Helen has gone to Russellville but will be back here tonight. We will have new potatoes tomorrow. If she want peas with them, she will have to buy frozen peas. We do not eat peas very well and I do not have any in the garden.

Company is here

And more on the way.... Maybe.

Helen wanted to go see Patsy and Barb today, but I have to go to the DR and then to therapy so she decided to walk. She was going to stop by brothers and see if he was busy hoping he would take her. I suggested she call him first, but she said when then got here from the airport he did not even slow down when passing by his house and then when he got here to our house he honked for someone to come out and get her. He was sorta out of luck there because there was only the crip and BIL here. Crip did not here them honk and BIL can not do things without planing 2 days in advance. No one told him brother might want help getting the 2 tons of luggage out of the truck so he remained in place playing cards on the computer. When I realized they were here, I told him he had company and had to come into the living room or he would have stayed playing cards for another hour. So, because of that experience, Sister Helen did not want to warn brother Clayton that she was coming by expecting a ride because she was sure he would already be gone on some false errand by the time she got to his house.

Tonight, Gilbert is coming by and Friday we are going to go to Erin's for lunch. Not sure what we will do tomorrow.

Betty, you need to call tonight as Helen did not understand before that Laura would not get to come up at all. Helen is now looking for a ride to Laura's house. I told her me and George or Clayton would take her, but she is looking for something more certain. Call tonight and we will see what arrangements we need to make.

Helen looks great and is feeling very good. We stayed up till midnight last night, so I am thinking I will need to go to bed a dark thirty tonight.

Oh, yes, and my knee is much better.
